The theme: Travelling to London.
The aim of the lesson:
Educational:
To master new lexis and its use in speech.
To revise already studied material on the theme “London”, “Travelling”.
Developing:
To develop students skills and habits in monologue speech through telling some information about sightseeing of London.
To develop pupil’s reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills.
To develop memory and attention.
To develop pupils’ skills and habits in pronunciation.
Bringing-up:
1) To teach pupils to love and know about London.
2) To develop pupil’s views of electing sightseeing of London for travelling.
The type of the lesson: non-traditional (Travelling to London).
The method of teaching: training, questions-answer, reflection, evocation, crossword, the game “who is the best? “, “puzzle-proverbs”.
Visual aids: interactive board, crossword, cards, pictures.
Duration of the lesson: 80min.
The procedure of the lesson:
I. Organization moment.
- Good morning dear pupils! I’m very glad to see you happy and healthy at our English lesson. Today we’ll have an unusual lesson, because we have guests. And our lesson will be called-demonstration lesson.
II. To acquaint with the aim and the theme of the lesson.
So, today we are going to make a very enjoyable trip to London. We’ll have an exciting excursion and see places of interest. Today we have a competition and you have already been divided into 2 teams. Let’s name of your teams, using active vocabulary. What shall we do today?
Pupil: We are going to travel and to compete.
III. Phonetic drill. Now we shall have a phonetic drill, let’s train our tongue.

IV. Speaking drill.
Let’s continue our travelling and speak about the most marvelous sight of London. Now each of you will be a guide. At home you prepared some facts about the most interesting places of London. Let’s listen to it. Who starts?
The Tower of London.(слайд 1-3) Crossing the river by the Tower of Bridge you can see The Tower of London. The Tower of London was built by William the conqueror. It was a fortress, a royal palace, and a prison. Now it is a museum of arms. The tower of London has famous collection of Crown Jewels.

Westminster Abbey. (слайд 4-5) Westminster Abbey is one of the most famous and beautiful churches. It’s more than 9000 years old. It was built by King Edward Confessor as part of his palace. Today Westminster Abbey is still used for the coronation and burial of all the monarchs. Westminster Abbey is famous for its Poet’s Corner too. Many great writers are buried there: for example Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling.

Buckingham Palace. (слайд 6-7). Buckingham Palace is an official resident of the Queen. It contains almost 600 rooms. It is a wonderful building with a monument in front of it which is the Queen Victoria Memorial.

Trafalgar Square. (слайд 6-7) Trafalgar Square is in the center of London. Since the middle Ages, Trafalgar Square has been the central meeting place. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It’s a monument to Admiral Nelson. There are two beautiful fountains in the square.

St. Paul Cathedral. (слайд 8-9) It's was build by Christorpher Wren between 1675 and 1711. It’s one of Europe’s largest cathedrals. It is interesting to know that Prince Charles and Lady Diana married here in 1981. A tomb of Christopher Wren himself and a number of important artist are buried here as well.

Big Ben. (слайд 10-13) Big Ben is the name of the clock and the bell in the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. The clock and the bell got their names after Sir Benjamin Hall. He was a tall man whose nickname was a Big Ben.
