Тема урока: Соединенные Штаты Америки.

Цель урока: Создание условий для выполнения творческой работы на примере заполнения карты США.

Задачи урока:

Образовательные:

1. Активизировать употребление лексических единиц по теме "США".

2. Развивать умение решать коммуникативную задачу.

3. Ликвидировать пробелы в знаниях.

Развивающие:

1. Развивать коммуникативные навыки по средствам работы в группах.

2. Развивать такие виды речевой деятельности, как говорение, чтение.

Воспитательные:

1. Воспитывать культуру общения.

2. Развивать интерес к культуре страны изучаемого языка.

Ход урока.

1. Приветствие.

Hello children! Glad to see you. You look nice today!

Look out of the window! What is the weather like today? What date is it today? Who is absent today?

OK, let's begin our lesson.

2. Мотивация.

а) Вводная беседа.

First of all I want you to read a nice poem “Let's Remember Columbus”. Open your books at page 12 and let's read it all together after me.

And what do you remember about the discoverer of America?

Look at the screen! What number is it? 50. Right. What are these? The stars! What can you say about 50 stars? Where can you see them? There are 50 stars on the American flag.

Let’s have a short warming up. Give me the English variants quickly:

And now let's remember some facts about the USA.

Read only true sentences.

Read the text. Find all the geographical names in bold on the map on the board and complete your own map.

The United States of America is also called the USA, US, United States or sometimes America. The USA is in the central part of North America. It borders on Canada and Mexico. It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, by the Pacific Ocean and by the Gulf of Mexico. The capital of the USA is Washington.

The territory of the USA consists of three separate parts

1. the USA proper

2. Alaska

3. The Hawaii.

The area of the country is about 9,400,000 km2. Its population is about 324 million people. The US is the 4th largest country in the world by land area and 3rd by population.

The USA is a country of mountains, valleys and deserts. The highest mountains are the Appalachian Mountains, the Cordilleras, the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. The highest mountain is Mt McKinley, located in the state of Alaska.

The Great Lakes are in the north-east of the country. They are Lake Ontario, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Superior, Lake Michigan. The largest rivers of the USA are the Mississippi and the Missouri.

The most populated city in the US is New York City, followed by Los Angeles and Chicago.
