Целями данного урока являлось, закрепить и углубить знания по данной теме, активизация лексики по теме Travelling и первичное закрепление ее в речи, развивать логическое мышление учащихся, память, внимание, воображение, познавательную активность, способность быстро воспринимать информацию.

Theme: Travelling

Aim of the lesson: Students will be able to

  • practice the vocabulary of the topic “Travelling” through different activities

  • develop skills to work in a project

  • train memory, thinking and imagination

  • develop creativity

  • improve reading and listening skills through listening comprehension tasks



The type of the lesson: consolidation

Methods: the strategies of critical thinking, work in small groups, cinquains, interview, listen comprehension.

Visual aids: an interactive board, presentations, signal cards, chain word, handouts, pictures, musical records.

The procedure of the lesson:

East or West home is best”

1. Organization moment. Greeting.

Teacher: Good morning students. How are you today? Are you ready for the lesson? So, let’s start.

2. To declare the aim of the lesson.

Teacher: Let me tell you a few words about the aims of our lesson.

We should revise the material on the topic and discuss all the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of travelling. Also we’ll discuss the question “Why do people travel?” So the topic of our lesson is____ (Слайд 1,2).

Teacher: What will you do at the lesson?

Yes you’ll read and listen to the arguments for and against travelling. You’ll name and discuss the reasons for travelling. You’ll present your projects, work in small groups. By the end of the lesson you should decide if travelling useful or not.

Teacher: Modern life is impossible without travelling. Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling.









Relaxation– Close your eyes and dream about your future vacation:

3. Checking up the home task.

Teacher: We have told about your dream vocation. What are your home tasks?

  • “Travelling to London“

  • “Travelling to the USA”

  • “Travelling to Kazakhstan”

Teacher: Please, present your projects to the class.

Students show their presentations.

4. Working with vocabulary.

Teacher: Now, first of all I want to make sure you don’t forget the words on the topic

Travelling”

  1. Look at the word box on your desks and put the words under the following heading (keywords) (Слайд 5,6)

1) Types of holiday;

2) Places where people stay on holiday;

3) Places people visit on holiday;

4) Things people do on holiday;

5) Problems people can have on holiday

Camping, resort, museum, queues, bed and breakfast, to relax, crowds, delays, sunbathing, caravan, sightseeing, beach, tent, cruise, lost luggage, youth hostel, excursion, sunburn, tent, safari, gallery, food poisoning, wind- surfing, round- the word trip, cancellation, scuba-diving, bungalow.



Task 5. (Слайд7) Now it’s time to sum up. What do you think about travelling? What association do you have? Let’s make up cinquains about travelling. You are divided into 3 groups. Each group has a handout on your desk. You could write down your opinions. Make up as many cinquains as you can. All your cinquains should be different. Read them aloud when you are ready.

Task6.Teacher: When we speak about travelling, first of all, we remember about different ways of travelling. What are they?

Teacher: What way of travelling would you prefer?

Teacher: What is the fastest way of travelling?

Teacher: Can you name any advantages of travelling by train?

Teacher: What are the disadvantages of travelling by plane and by car?

Teacher: What do you think about travelling by sea?

Teacher: Would you prefer travelling alone or with your family? Why?

Teacher: Thank you for your answers.

Task7.Teacher. (Cлайд8) Everybody knows that different kinds of travelling have their own positive and negative aspects.

You are divided into 2 teams. The first team will put on a black hat. It means that you should think of disadvantages.

The second team will put on a yellow hat. You’ll try to find out only advantages

Teacher: We have just compared some possible advantages and disadvantages travelling by plane. If you are going to travel to London what way of travelling would you prefer? Why?

Student: I’d prefer travelling by plane. It’s the fastest way of travelling.

Teacher: Exactly, when you are going to travel you have to solve lots of problems. So, our choice of means of travelling depends on its aims, our plans and financial possibilities. Now, let’s do some tasks focusing on vocabulary.

Task8 (Слайд9) At first you are listening to the text. Then read and complete it with the missing words.

Reflection. Today we have travelled to many countries .You have seen many interesting

places. Now, answer the following questions:

  • Where are you going for your next holidays?

  • What way of travelling would you like to choose?

  • Where are you going to stay?

  • Who are you going with?

  • What would you do there?

Teacher: There are express trains, cars and yet airlines all of that provide you with comfort and security.

At the beginning of our lesson we have read the proverb. What is the meaning of it? “East or West home is best”? (Слайд 17)

 There is nothing like travelling. 
 Visiting countries is the best thing. 
Teacher: That’s right. There are many places of interest for travelling, but native land is the one among many countries.(Слайд 18)
