Порядковые числительные

Ordinal numerals

Почти все порядковые числительные образуются при помощи суффикса th

• 4-й – fourth
• 9-й – ninth
• 11-й – eleventh
• 25-й – twenty-fifth
• 100-й – one hundredth
• 178-й – one hundred and

But: 1-й - the first

2 -й - the second

3 -й - the third

Порядковые числительные всегда употребляются с определенным артиклем « the »

Год нужно поделить пополам

• 1 793 – seventeen ninety-three
• 1504 – fifteen o four
• 1956 – nineteen fifty-six
• 1900 – nineteen hundred
• 1812 – eighteen twelve

Дробные числительные

Простые дроби

• Числитель – количественное числительное
• Знаменатель – порядковое числительное

(может быть во множественном числе, если числитель больше единицы)

1/3 –one third,

2/5 – two fifths,

2 3/5 – two and three fifths

½ –a half / one half

¼ – a quarter / one quarter

¾ - three quarters

Десятичные дроби

• 1) Целое число отделяется от дроби точкой (point):

1 .5 =one point five

3.14 = three point fourteen

• 2)Ноль читается naught: 0 . 25 =

Проценты

• 2% = two per cent
• 3/8% = three eights per cent
• ½% = half per cent
• 0.2 % = naught point two per cent
