Relevance.
Dust in the air contains a lot of chemicals that are hazardous to health. And the more trees (the best dust collectors) are planted the cleaner the ambient air will be.
Novelty
It’s for the first time in college when we decided to investigate which trees are better than others to clean the air from the dust.
Hypothesis: broadleaf trees are the best air purifiers.

Conclusion: groupmates know that trees are the best dust collectors, but to plant a birch or a chestnut near the college is being researched now.
Our researches
Calculation of the surface of the washed leaves by the formula:
- S = (ddm 2 ), where М1 is the mass of paper cut along the contours of 10 leaves, М2 is the mass of 1dm 2 of paper, P is the number of washed leaves.
- Then it is determined how much dust is deposited on 1 m 2 of the leaf surfaces, and then the average dust deposition rate per day (in g / sq. M per day) using the following formula:
- where M is the mass of dust, S is the surface of the washed leaves in dm 2 , t is the time of dust precipitation (for a day).

Conclusion: as the pyramidal poplar does not fluff and picks up dust very well, it has been decided to plant it along the street of our college.
Last autumn Our proposal
CONCLUSIONS
- Pyramidal poplar has the highest average mass of dust retained per sheet.
- Pyramidal poplar has the highest specific dust holding capacity.
- From the studied trees pyramidal poplar is among the best dust collectors.
OFFERS
- To promote a system of measures to preserve and improve the ecology of the street.
- To continue air monitoring.
- To offer activities for planting trees by the method of wells.
- To implement our project.
Let the living heart of nature always beat
