Purpose of work:
To compare music in the second half of the 19th century in Russia and Great Britain.

Music: what is it?
- Music is a combination of pleasant sounds. It is an art which reflects life.
There are a lot of different kinds of music. Some of them appeared long ago, and some are modern.
- Music is part of the history.
Music from old times has become the great cultural heritage to us. People enjoy music from generation to generation.

The role of music:
Music reflects people's ideas and emotions. The whole lifetime of most people is accompanied by music. Music appeals to our hearts and transforms our feelings. It conquers our souls and enriches our minds. Music is our magic source of inspiration .

To accompany – сопровождать;
To appeal – обращаться;
To conquers – покорять;
Soul – душа;
Source of inspiration – источник вдохновения.
Queen Victoria
Queen Victoria was the Queen of England from 1837-1901
Victoria was born on the May 1819. Victoria was a strong queen. She ruled for the longest period in the English history, for 64 years. During her reign Britain became a rich industrial country with a developed trade , an empire with a lot of colonies.
To rule – править;

Industrial – промышленный;
Developed trade – развита торговля.
Alexander II
Alexander was born on the April 1818. Alexander was known as the " Tsar-Liberator " for his emancipation of the Russian serfs , he also reigned over one of the most repressive periods in Russian history. Alexander implemented many important national reforms.

Emancipation - освобождение;
Serf – крепостной;
Repressive – карательный;

Music in Russia
The second half of the 19th century - the heyday of the mighty Russian music. In Russian music examines the relation with the democratic movement of the epoch . Composers created operas from the history of the Russian people, used in their works, Russian folk songs, as well as songs and tunes of other peoples of Russia. In Russia there are two musical center. One of them is in St. Petersburg, another - in Moscow.
