| 1.Leading-in stage (W) Teacher shows the phrase EARTH DAY written on the board or PPt and asks learners what they think when they read this phrase. Teacher accepts all answers. Reading (I) Learners read a short information about Earth and answer 3 questions Earth Day was founded in 1970 by the American Senator G. Nelson. The holiday is annually celebrated in many countries since then. In the northern hemisphere, Earth Day is celebrated in spring and in the southern hemisphere - in autumn. Q1: When was Earth Day founded? __in 1970_____________ Q2: When do people in the world celebrate Earth Day? __in spring and autumn________ Q3:Why do people celebrate Earth Day? _____to attract to and solve the problems of environment Differentiation Less able students are given thinking time to make up a sentence.

Making a poster. Learners are split in groups of 3-4 children and prepare a poster “How do I help the Earth?” , for example, about Earth Day and ideas how people do not care about environment and how they can solve the problem, then present it to the classmates. Learners listen and assess a group presenting a poster according criteria:
Differentiation Less able students are given some help from peers. Learners present their posters and express their ideas in front of the class. Teacher provides open class discussion.
