КВН на английском языке «Первые дни Америки»

Цели:

- развитие иноязычной коммуникативной компетентности;

- приобщение к культуре, традициям, реалиям страны изучаемого языка;

- формирование потребности изучения английского языка и овладения им как средством общения, познания, самореализации.

Задачи:

образовательные:

- формирование коммуникативной компетентности в общении и сотрудничестве со сверстниками;

- развитие навыков аудирования и устной речи;

воспитательные:

- воспитание потребности в практическом использовании языка;

- воспитание культуры общения;

развивающие:

- развитие чувства коллективизма, умения работать в команде;

Ход мероприятия.

Ведущий: Dear ladies and gentlemen! Dear friends! I am glad to greet you at our competition. Today we shall speak about the first days of America and  one of the biggest cities of America – New York. Two teams will take part in our competition. The first team is “Oxford Students”, the second team is “Columbus’s Children”. You are welcome on the stage.

Ведущий: The captain of the team “Oxford Students” is ____________. The captain of the team “ Columbus’s Children” is ____________.  The members of our jury are: the teacher of English __________________ and the pupils of the tenth and eleventh forms.

Ведущий: Captains, come here, please, and we shall see what team will begin our competition. Now  we shall see your “Greeting”.

“Oxford Students”: Oxford is one of the best universities not only in Great Britain but in the world. We are the students of the Oxford University, so we are the best. We wish you everything good, but we shall be the first.

“Columbus’s Children”: Christopher Columbus was a clever man. He was energetic and optimistic. He believed in the land over the ocean very much and he was right. We are  the children of Columbus, we are clever and witty, we believe in our luck and we shall be the best. Good luck to you too.

Ведущий: The first competition  is “Warming up”. You’ll have to answer some questions about America. Raise your hand if you know the answer.

2. How do people call the American flag? (Stars and Stripes)

3. When did Christopher Columbus discover America? (in 1492)

4. What do Americans celebrate on the 4-th of July? (Independence Day)

5. How many stars are there on the American flag? (50 stars)

6. How many stripes are there on the American flag? Why? (There are 13 stripes on the flag because there were 13 colonies in America in 1773)

Bедущий: Now we shall see some of American holidays, which the teams prepared beforehand.

“Oxford Students”. Thanks giving Day which is celebrated in November.

- Oh, it is so cold. The weather is bad.

- We have nothing to eat. We have no food.

- How shall we survive? Will our children die?

- Oh, look! There is somebody there.

Цели:

Indian: Hello, White people! Indian people greet you on this land. I have brought presents to you from my people. Take them. They are for you. –What is it? Indian: It is maise. And also a pumpkin. –Thank you very much. –The next year the people planted maise and had a very rich harvest and it helped them to survive. Every year from that time people in America celebrate Thanksgiving day and thank God and Indian people for help.

“Columbus’s Children”: Halloween is one of the most popular holidays in America.

-Tommy! Daddy! Come here! It is supper, let’s drink tea. –Thank you , Mummy. –Help yourselves to the pie. –It is so tasty. Somebody in the street: Trick or treat, trick or treat, - Give us something nice to eat! (people in the costumes of a ghost and a skeleton come in. They go on to sing.) -It is the 31-st of October today. It is Halloween. –Take an apple. Take a pie. Take some money. –Thank you very much. Good-bye!

Ведущий: The next competition is “Listening”. You listen to the story and raise your hand if you know what the story is about.

1. It is a monument, the symbol of the USA. It is situated in the harbor and people who come to New York by sea always see it.( the Statue of Liberty)

2. It is the highest skyscraper in New York. It was built in 1930 and has 103 floors. It is very popular for tourists. Every day thousands of people come to see it. (the Empire State Building)

3. It is the longest street in New York. A lot of theatres are situated here. This part of the street is also known as “the Great White Way” and is always full of tourists. In the evening you can see here one of the most popular musicals-“ Chicago”. (Broadway)

4. This skyscraper was built during the Great Depression by one rich American aristocrat without any help from the government. In front of this building there are the largest and the most beautiful Christmas trees in New York. (the Rockefeller Center)
