Модуль 1 CELEBRATIONS (Праздники) 9 ч.

Lesson 4 (___)

Тема: Vocabulary & Speaking.

Цели: ознакомить с определительными придаточными предложениями;

осваивать во всех видах речевой деятельности новые лексические единицы по теме «Особые случаи/торжества, праздники»;

развивать навыки монологической речи;

развивать учебно-познавательную компетенцию через развитие способов учебной деятельности (понимание идиом);

развивать компетенцию личностного самосовершенствования через освоение психологических основ самопознания;

воспитывать нравственные ценности и ориентиры;

воспитать дружелюбное и толерантное отношения к ценностям иных культур.

Активная лексика:  excited, nervous, thrilled, enthusiastic, surprised, impatient, pull crackers, exchange gifts, throw streamers, blow out candals, be a piece of cake, have your cake and eat it, sell like hot cakes, the icing on the cake, take the cake.

ПОДГОТОВКА К ВОСПРИЯТИЮ ИНОЯЗЫЧНОЙ РЕЧИ (ОРГАНИЗАЦИОННАЯ ЧАСТЬ УРОКА)

Greeting 1. Беседа.

T: Good morning, boys and girls.

 P-s: Good morning, teacher.

 T: I’m glad to see you.

 P-s: We are glad to see you too.

T: Sit down, please. Let’s start our lesson. Answer my questions, please. What date is it today?

 P1: Today is ….

Aim 2. Сообщение темы и цели урока.

T: Now it is time to turn to our new topic. The theme of our lesson is “Special occasions”. Today you will refresh special occasions, you’ll try to describe birthday traditions around the world and you’ll make up your own dialogues. Answer my questions:

What holidays do you know?

Which are your favourite holidays of the year?

Which month are they in?

Presenting 1. Введение лексического материала урока. Ex1, p16.

Vocabulary

a) Describing pictures/Understanding new vocabulary.

Учащиеся знакомятся с заданием. Для выполнения задания на доске записаны слова. Запись слов в словарь.

T: Read through the phrases. Match the phrases to the pictures.

P: 1 B 2 C 3 A

T: Look at the pictures and describe them to the class using the vocabulary given.

P1: In picture A a young girl is celebrating her 16th birthday. She is about to blow out the candles on her special birthday cake. In front of her are some gifts that she has received.

P2: In picture B a woman is decorating a Christmas tree. There are some Christmas cards over the fireplace.

P3: In picture C some young girls are dressed up in costumes and talking part in a street parade. There are lots of people watching the parade.

b) Understanding adjectives. Ex2, p16.

T: Read through the list of adjectives. Describe how the people in the pictures may feel and how they have felt on these special occasions.

P1: picture 1 _ impatient (to open her presents)

P2: picture 2 _ enthusiastic (because Christmas has arrived)

P3: picture 3 _ excited (because people are watching them)

P4: I felt very surprised on my birthday because I didn’t know about my party.

P5: I am very excited at Christmas because it is a very special time.

Listening 2. Развитие навыков аудирования. Listening for gist/Identifying feelings. Ex3, p16.

T: Read the rubric. Listen to the recording and complete the task individually. Describe how each person feels.

P1: Speaker 1 _ C (cake, sixteen candles, gifts and cards) happy, embarrassed

P2: Speaker 2 _ A (happy couple, bride’s dress) thrilled

P3: Speaker 3 _ B (parents proud, remember, class) proud

T: Read through the expressions/wishes. Elicit which expressions match the events in Ex. 3a and what they mean. Say similar expressions in your own language.

Speaking 3. Развивать учебно-познавательную компетенцию через развитие способов учебной деятельности (понимание идиом) Ex4, p16.

be a piece of cake – простой, лёгкий (пара пустяков; пустяковое дело)

have your cake and eat it - пытаться совместить несовместимое; пытаться усидеть на двух стульях

sell like hot cakes - быть нарасхват

the icing on the cake - что-либо, улучшающее ситуацию

take the cake - получить приз

T: An idiom means something different from the actual meaning of the words

that form it. You have to change the word order in some sentences. Complete the task.

P1: 1 Her new CD is selling like hot cakes.

P2: 2 His birthday was fantastic. He got lots of cards and presents but the icing on the cake was the surprise birthday party.

P3: 3 You can organise the party. It will be a piece of cake for you.

P4: 4 John invited himself to the party and then bought lots of friends along. He really takes the cake.

P5: 5 Sarah wants to go away for her birthday but she also wants to have a big party with all her friends. It sounds to me like she wants to have her cake and eat it.

a) Reading to identify missing lexis (multiple choice cloze) .

T: Elicit an answer to the question in the rubric. First read text with the gaps to get the gist.

Read the text again paying careful attention to the words before and after each gap then choose the best answer. Then reread the text to ensure it makes sense.

P1: A ‘Sweet Sixteen’ is a type of birthday party.

P2: 1 B 3 D 5 A 7 C

P3: 2 C 4 A 6 B

b) Describing a celebration.

T: Describe a celebration to the class.

P: A celebration I enjoyed a lot was my parents’ 25th wedding anniversary. My sister and I wanted to do something really special for their silver anniversary, so we threw them a surprise party. We sent out the invitations a month in advance and booked their favourite restaurant for the celebration. When the big day arrived, we told them that we felt like going out for dinner and fortunately they agreed. When Mum and Dad walked into the restaurant, everyone screamed “Surprise”! The look on their faces was amazing. They were speechless! All their friends and family had gathered together to celebrate the joyful event. The party was a huge success. We danced all night and took lots of photos for their anniversary album.

Mum and Dad even got to see out-of-town relatives they hadn’t seen in years. We had a great time and our parents had an unforgettable night.

Grammar 5. Oзнакомить с определительными придаточными предложениями. Ex6, p17.

a) Understanding relative clauses.

Учащиеся вместе с учителем повторяют правила и разбирают задание.

T: Complete task individually.

P1: 1 which 2 who 3 which

P2: 1 whose 2 when 3 where 4 who

In the defining sentences, who can be omitted in sentence 2 and which can be omitted in sentence 3.

b) Identifying non-defining relative clauses.

T: Read through the sentences from Ex. 6a and identify which clauses can be omitted without changing the meaning of the sentences (ie. the non-defining ones

P1: The non-defining clauses:

1 Katie is getting married next week. 2 October 31st is my birthday.

3 Buсol is a small town in Valencia. 4 Mehmet celebrates Ramadan.

Grammar 6. Освоить использование определительных придаточных предложений.

a) Practising forming relative clauses. Ex7, p17.

T: Join the sentences to form relative clauses. Pay attention if the clause is nondefining

and needs to be separated with commas.

P1: 1 Sarah, who is six years old, loves Christmas.

2 Halloween is a great festival where children always dress up as ghosts or witches.

P2: 3 Carnival is a popular festival which is celebrated in many countries.

4 Mark, who lives next door, is a clown.

5 Bonfire Night, which is an important festival in England, is celebrated on 5th November.

b) Practising relative clauses. Ex8, p17.

T: Write sentences with relative clauses about each picture.

P1: 2 A cinema is a place where we can watch a film.

P2: 3 Gifts are things which we give to people at celebrations.

P3: 4 A cake is a sweet food which we enjoy eating.

P4: 5 A zoo is a place where we can see different animals.

P5: 6 A clown is a person who makes us laugh.

P6: 7 A cook is a person who prepares food.


ЗАКЛЮЧИТЕЛЬНАЯ ЧАСТЬ УРОКА

Homework 1. Домашнее задание.

T: Open your diaries, please, and write down your home task: Письменно выполнить упр.9 на стр.17. Прочитать и устно перевести упр.3стр.18. Выучить новые слова. Повторить песню SS1.
