Прежде всего, напомним, что Ваше эссе по английскому языку должно осветить ВСЕ аспекты, изложенные в задании, а также должно быть написанным в соответствующем стиле (нейтральном). Оно должно логично делиться на 5 абзацев и соответствовать предложенному в задании плану.

Основная цель нашей речи – и устной, и письменной – состоит в том, чтобы четко и ясно изложить информацию, донести мысль до слушателя или читателя, убедить его в своей правоте. Для достижения этой цели нужно последовательно излагать идеи, логически выстраивать свое повествование и выделять главные мысли. Слова-связки в английском языке предназначены именно для этого: они помогают показать связи между идеями, упорядочить высказывание, сделать его цельным и понятным аудитории.

В этом практическом видео мы будем повторять средства логической связи.

Предположим, на экзамене перед Вами следующая задача:

Many teenagers enjoy playing computer games. Some people, however, believe that teenagers should spend their free time doing more physical activities.

What is your opinion? Do you agree with this statement?

Make an introduction (state the problem)

Some people think that instead of playing computer games teenagers should spend their free time on physical activities, whereas others do not agree. They believe that computer games are not bad at all.

Express your personal opinion and give 2–3 reasons for your opinion

I think that there is nothing wrong with playing computer games. Firstly, some of them are educational and interactive. Pupils can learn a lot of new information just playing computer games. Secondly, modern games are a lot of fun as well as relaxing. Nowadays, school boys and girls have plenty of homework and they need some quality time to relax.

Express an opposing opinion and give 1–2 reasons for this opposing opinion

At the same time there are people who believe that teenagers should spend more time doing physical activities. They think that playing computer games is nothing but a waste of time and it is far more important for them to develop physically.

Explain why you don't agree with the opposing opinion

Actually, I cannot agree with the opinion mentioned above for a few reasons.  I consider playing computer games is not a bad thing in itself. People just need to learn to not overdo it. If a person is disciplined, they can do both: play computer games with no harm to their health and do physical activities.

Make a conclusion restating your position

In conclusion, I would like to say that computer games have become a part of modern people's lives. A lot of educational programs have been created and playing them has become more than just entertainment. Nevertheless, teens should make sure those games do not become their lives. Yet, I still support the idea of playing computer games since I see more pros in it than cons.

Итого: 256 слов.

Требуемый объём в эссе – 200–250 слов. Допустимо отклонение от заданного объёма на 10 %. То есть можно написать от 180 до 275 слов.

Если в выполненном задании 40 менее 180 слов, то задание проверке не подлежит и оценивается в 0 баллов. При превышении объёма более чем на 10 %, то есть если в задании 40 будет более 275 слов, проверке подлежит та часть работы, которая соответствует требуемому объёму.

И первое с чего мы начинаем – нужно перефразировать / переформулировать тему сочинения:

Many teenagers enjoy playing computer games. Some people, however, believe that teenagers should spend their free time doing more physical activities.

Для этого можно использовать следующие фразы:

Some people think, ... Others think, ...

Some people claim that ..., while others argue that ...

Some people think that …, whereas others do not agree. ….

Попробуйте самостоятельно переформулировать 1-ый абзац, используя эти фразы.

Помните, что нельзя повторять заданную тему. Для этого используйте синонимы.

Итак, вот возможные варианты:

·                   Some people think, that playing computer games is a joyful activity. Others think, that it is too harmful for health. They believe that young people should do sports instead.

·                   Some people claim that, playing computer games does a lot of harm to teen’s health, while others argue that that computer games are not bad at all.

·                   Some people think that instead of playing computer games young people should spend their spare time on physical activities, whereas others do not agree. They believe that computer games are not bad at all.

Второй абзац содержит свою точку зрения и аргументы в её поддержку.

Первый аргумент хорошо начать с:

To start with, ...

To begin with, ...

First of all, ...

Если первый аргумент шел с фразами “To start with, ...”, “To begin with, ...”, то второй можно начать следующими словами:

Moreover, ...

Furthermore, ...

Besides, ...

In addition, ...

После того как Вы сформулировали первый аргумент, надо его подтвердить и/или дать пример в подтверждение. Вот самые простые модели, как это можно сделать:

<аргумент>, because ...

<аргумент>. That is why ...

<аргумент>. For example, ...

Из предложенных разрозненных фраз на заданную тему выразите мнение своё мнение и выстройте 2 аргумента в поддержку.

Вот приблизительно так может выглядеть ваш абзац:

3-ий Абзац.  Противоположная точка зрения + 1-2 аргумента в её поддержку.

Выберите любое из данных предложений и изложите противоположное 2-му абзацу мнение.

Many people, however, will not probably agree with me,

On the other hand, there are many supporters of the opposite point of view.

Возможный вариант выглядит следующим образом:

Четвертый абзац с контраргументами к этой точке зрения должен начинаться так:

I cannot agree with this opinion because ...

I cannot agree with the opinion mentioned above for a few reasons.

I am afraid I cannot agree with this idea because ...

Заполните пропуски подходящими словами.

В 5-ом абзаце суммируем всё, о чём говорилось в эссе и подтверждаем свою точку зрения.

In conclusion, I would like to say that computer games have become a part of modern people's lives. A lot of educational programs have been created and playing them has become more than just entertainment. Nevertheless, teens should make sure those games do not become their lives. I still support the idea of playing computer games since I see more pros in it than cons.
