The nature of the Far East is very rich. Different species of birds and animals can be found here. I would like to begin with the owner of the Ussuri taiga, Amur tiger. It has no enemies. But despite its strength it takes him a lot of time to hunt and only one out of ten attempts is successful. Besides, Amur tiger has a small heart, that’s why it has to rest for a long time after hunting, otherwise it may die. Amur tiger hunts at night, at this time of day it sees five times better than humans. It needs 9-10 kilos of meat every day

The Far Eastern Leopard
The Far Eastern leopard is the only that has learned to live in the snow. Other species live in tropical forest. It catches deer, raccoons, hares. This blue-eyed animal has a long tail:90 cm., the same length as the body. It’s a pity but only about 80 individuals of the Far Eastern leopard remain in the world. People cut down trees, pollute forests and water in the places where it lives.
I have known that Polar bears are actually not white. Their skin is black but they look white because each hair reflects sunlight. It helps them keep the heat and to live in the Arctic. They spend most of the time in the water and swim perfectly. It was interesting to know that newborn babies look smaller than human babies, they have size of a rat but if they eat normally, they grow fast.

The Musk deer
Another animal that lives in our region is the musk deer. The main value of a
Musk deer is musk. Musk is used in perfume.
Such perfume is very expensive.
This little deer has fangs but is non-aggressive animal that eats grass.
These animals are very careful and it is very difficult to take photos of them.
Crane birds
In the Far East live 5 out of 7 Russian cranes:
black, grey, Daurian, Japanise and Siberian crane(white). These birds can be
so tall as a man:175 cm. tall. In captivity cranes can live up to 80 years, but
in the wild only 20 years. They build a family for life but if the male or female
dies, the bird finds a new pair. People in Yakutia believe that the killing of a
crane brings misfortune. In China and Japan the crane is the symbol of wisdom,
honor and beauty.
The Far Eastern Stork
The Far Eastern stork looks like a white stork but it is two times bigger than its European relative. It avoids people, makes nests far away from cities and towns on high trees. Today people protect their nests because their population becomes smaller and they often build nests on power lines. By the way, these nests are very large :from 1 to 2 meters in diameter. Besides, storks are very good parents:they protect their children from bad weather, when it is very hot they give them water from their beaks
Fish owl
I have known very interesting facts about these birds. Firstly, they live in pairs and hunt together. Secondly, the female does not catch fish from the principle. The male must show his strength and catch fish itself.
Kharsa is a real predator .
It can catch everything:
grasshoppers, mice, hares,
squirrels, birds, even Musk deer.
As you can see, it looks
very beautiful.
Thanks to its bright
appearance other wild
animals don’t
hunt for her.
Kharsa
These animals hunt together in small groups and run 20 kilometers a day in search of food. they are very cunning and that’s why can be found
very seldom
The Mandarin duck
I want to finish my presentation with a bird that
symbolizes love among Far Eastern peoples.
It is the Mandarin duck. They choose a partner
for life, they even fly together. At Chinese
weddings rooms are often decorated with
images of « tangerines».
They make their nests
In Russia but fly away
to China and Japan in
winter.
In conclusion I want to say that our nature
and animals is our treasure. And they
should be protected by people. We
shouldn’t pollute forests, water and air.
We must save our environment for the future
generations.
