The aims of the lesson:

1) to perfect use lexical and grammar material on the theme

2) to bring up positive attitude to knowledge

3) to develop skill to use knowledge in practice

The Procedure of the lesson

1. Organization moment

- Good morning, pupils and dear guest

I’m glad to see you. Welcome to English lesson! How are you today?

- Fine, thanks.

- Sit down, please. I’m fine too. If you are ready, let’s begin our lesson.

2. Warm up

Today we’ll have an unusual lesson. Look on the board, please. (video “sport”)

Now think and answer: what is this lesson about? What us the theme? (answers  pupils)

You are right. Today we shall speak about Sport. We have two teams3.

Introduction of the lesson

The first task:

What sports did you saw on the video?

Football, tennis, rugby, volleyball…….

The second task:

Групповая работа. “Любимый вид спорта”

- Now I know that all you like sport and I’d like to find out the favourite kind of sport in your group. Interview your classmates, complete the table and report the results.  Use the model:

Dima likes football

Ann’s favourite sport is skiing. (слайд №4)

(Учащиеся получают  карточки с таблицей. В верхней строке учащиеся записывают имена участников своей группы. В беседе выявляют любимый вид спорта и отмечают в таблице. По образцу  представитель от каждой  группы сообщает о любимом виде спорта.)

The third task:

Adil: I am a very sportive person/ I like being active and I like to go into different sports. But still my favourite sport is football. My favoutire player is David Beckham. He is known as one of the most talented players in the international football world. He was born in London in 1975. He started his professional career in Manchester United club. He also played in Real Madrid team, in Los Angeles Galaxy and in Milan.

Who speak about achievements of the Kazakh sportsmen in Olympic Games in London?

Erzhan: I want to speak about Serik Sapiev. He is an idol for me. He is an amateur boxer from Kazakhstan who won the world title in the light welterweight division in 2005 and 2007. Serik Sapiev won Olympic gold and the Val Barker Trophy for best boxer at London.

Valentina: I like Alexander Vinokurov. He is professional road bicycle racer who currently competes with the UCI Pro Team Astana. His achievements include two bronze medals at the World Championships, four stage wins in the Tour de France. He won gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Men’s Road Race.

Tell your opinion Sport is my Motto

Ivan: I like swimming. I started to learn when I was about nine years old. I think that swimming is something like music or language. That is why very good to start as early as possible if you want to be good at it. I visit swimming pool every week. Swimming helps me to stay in good shape.

The seventh task:

Many people like sport.  But a great number of people don’t go in for sports. Are you good or against sport? Let’s divide in two groups. The 1st group will think and tell us about good sides of sport, another one – about bad sides of sport.  Ответы учащихся:

Sport is good because                                        

It makes me strong and fast                               

It helps me to keep fit                                        

It builds character                                                       

It teachers me to win and to lose                       

It’s very good for my heart                               

We enjoy it                                                        

Sport helps people to stay in good shape, helps to support health and prevents from illness.

It’s not  very useful.                                          

It takes a lot of energy and time.                       

We have no time to walk with friends               

It needs to work very hard.                               

We can break legs and arms.                      

-  So good sides more than bad sides.

4. The end of the lesson

 Your home task will be to do a project “Popular sports in Great Britain and Kazakhstan”. You must do some research and find out:

Describe one of these sports: name, history, equipment, manner of play, tournaments, and greatest sportsmen.

- I thank everybody for the lesson. You were very active. I hope this lesson was interesting for you and you have known much new and useful information.
