1. The capital of this country is Delhi. It is famous for elephants and tigers, tea and coffee, films and bright colors. What country is this? (India)

Do you know the nickname of Australia? – Oz! Do you know a book “The Wizard of Oz” or “The wonderful world of Oz” written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum?

Aus or Aussie, is the short form for an Australian, is pronounced for fun with a hissing sound at the end, it sounds as though the word being pronounced has the spelling Oz. Hence Australia in informal language is referred to as Oz.

The noun Oz is used to refer to an unreal, magical place. And Australia is such a weird place! So, what is so unusual about it? Its wildlife, of course!

Before we speak about Australia’s wildlife, we must learn some new words (СЛАЙД 8)
