Past Simple vs Present Perfect

Past Simple. The action which happened at a stated time.

Действие происходит в определенное время в прошлом!

Peter bought a new book last week.

(When? Last week)

Boris has bought a lot of books.

(When? We don’t know.)

Present Perfect. The action which happened at a unstated time.

Действие происходит в прошлом, но точное время не известно !

Past Simple. The action started and finished in the past.

Действие началось и закончилось в прошлом.

Olga had a cold two weeks ago .

(When? Two weeks ago. Now she feels good.)

Ann has had a cold for these days .

(When? For these days. She is still ill.)

Present Perfect. The action started in the past and still continuous.

Действие началось в прошлом и все еще не закончилось.
