Today I want to talk about Oxford.
Oxford (English Oxford — "oxen ford", "bull ford", pronounced [ˈɒksfəd]) is a city in the United Kingdom, the capital of the county of Oxfordshire. Oxford is known for the oldest in English—speaking countries and one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Europe - Oxford University. Oxford University is a unique and historical institution. The exact date of its creation is unknown, but in one form or another, education at Oxford existed as early as 1096. And since 1167, when Henry II announced a ban on English students entering the University of Paris, education began to develop rapidly. All the leading ratings of educational institutions in the UK (The Complete University Guide, The Times and The Guardian newspapers) call this university the best in the country; in addition, it has given the world about 50 Nobel laureates. Oxford stands on the banks of the Thames, at the confluence of the river Charwell. The 10-mile stretch of the Thames that flows through the city is commonly called the Isis. In 2015, the population was 159,574 people, about 30,000 of them are university students.
In conclusion, I would like to say that I would like to visit Oxford.
