Wisconsin is a U.S. state located in the North-Central part of the country. The state capital is Madison, and the largest city is Milwaukee. The state borders Minnesota to the West, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the South, lake Michigan to the East, the state of Michigan to the northeast, and lake Superior to the North. Wisconsin is the 23rd largest state by area and 20th largest number of the population. The territory of the state is divided into 72 districts.

The state of Wisconsin is home to about 5,700,000 people (the twentieth most populous state in the United States). The average population density in the state is about 40 people per km2 (25th place in the United States). The largest cities in the state of Wisconsin are Milwaukee (about 600,000 residents, twenty-eighth place in the list of largest cities in the United States), the state capital city of Madison (about 240,000 residents), green Bay (about 110,000 residents), Kenosha (about 100,000 residents), Racine (about 85,000 residents).
