MY PROFESSION IS TWO FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Knowledge of foreign languages is certainly a useful skill. He expands not only the outlook of a person, but also his opportunities in professional activity. Such an item in the summary, as knowledge of one or more foreign languages, will clearly be a plus for the applicant for any serious post.
Knowledge of a foreign language is the basis, for example, for such professions as an interpreter, a foreign language teacher, a diplomat, a guide, an international journalist and for all specialists, while studying at a university or college, he pays particular attention to the study of languages.
On the other hand, you can earn as an interpreter, even without a special education. For an interpreter, it is enough to speak the language confidently and speak fluently. A specialist engaged in translation should be well-versed in the special terminology inherent in certain types of text (technical, medical, engineering, etc.).
However, in many other professions, not directly related to the knowledge of languages, a foreign one can be very useful. First of all, this is connected with the direction of the company's work. If the organization is focused on working with foreign partners, conducts a foreign business or is a representative of an international company, knowledge of languages will be mandatory for the majority of its employees. Confident knowledge of a foreign language is important for account managers (international companies), employees of international relations departments, stewardesses, programmers, accompanying websites, software developers and mobile applications. In any case, knowledge of a foreign language for these professionals is a guarantee of great career opportunities.
As for me, I knew from the childhood that I would become an interpreter. My choice is closely related to the growing importance of foreign languages and cultures in modern society. Foreign languages are necessary for communication with people on the planet. I am sure that among all other languages English is the most universal and widespread language. This is the official language in many countries. In addition, it is the language of international aviation, sports, medicine, the language of science and technology, trade, cultural and business contacts.
I understand that the work of an interpreter is not easy. You must be extremely communicative and responsible. Moreover, you have to work hard and travel often. But on the other hand, you have a chance to visit many countries and meet interesting people. I think this profession is worth it to try. As a university student, I will pay great attention to learning English and work hard. I hope I made the right choice.
International and intercultural competence at present is an important key to economic success. Language competencies help to open new markets and give advantages in competition. Each enterprise in the future will put forward a requirement for its employees to own one of the foreign languages at a level not lower than the spoken one. The employee of the enterprise should establish personal contact with foreign partners in order to exchange professional information about: the firm / enterprise, the place of products on the market, the opportunities for cooperation in this industry; known firms / enterprises of Russia. In addition to knowledge of the main profession, you need to own one or more foreign languages: to be aware of the latest developments in the world of science and technology, you must be able to read the articles in the original language. In addition, it is much easier to work with foreign partners if you know the information "from the first mouth".
