Procedure

– Good afternoon everybody/ Today we shall speak about Great Britain. We’ll consolidate all knowledge about Great Britain. What have you learned?

-What are your associations when you hear the word “Great Britain”? (the teacher writes them down on the blackboard)


  1. – Well, look at the map. Continue my sentences, repeating them.

  1. Great Britain consists of…(4 parts). Show and name them.

The capital of England…(London)

  1. The capital of Wales…(Cardiff)

  2. The capital of Scotland…(Edinburgh)

  3. The capital of the Nothern Ireland…(Belfast)

– When you are going to speak about Great Britain you must know about the usage of the definite article. Put the definite article where necessary (the words are written on the blackboard):

  1. – We know London is the capital of England. Will you name the most wonderful sights in London?

(Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s, Cathedral, the Tower of London).

-Now let’s listen to some new facts about the most interesting places of London. (The children prepare short information);

Westminster Abbey is a symbol of English tradition. The coronations of all English Kings and queens since William the Conqueror have taken place here. Many of them are buried within the Abbey. There also the graves of philosophers, statemen and famous people.

Tower Bridge was opened in 1894. It takes its name from the Tower of London. The covered walkway between the two towers is opened to the public and offers a spectacular view of London.

St. Paul’s Cathedral was built by Sir Christopher Wren between 1675 and 1710 to replace the Old Cathedral destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666. Christopher Wren is buried there.

Buckingham Palace is the official residence of Her Majesty the Queen and her family. It isn’t open to the public. The first monarch who took residence there was Queen Victoria.

  • Look at the blackboard. I’d like pay your attention to the other sights of England. (the teacher names them aloud and the children repeat and translate):

  • The Thames, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the National Museum of Wales.

  • - Let’s work in pairs. Imagine that one of you the English, the other one – a tourist. What would you like to visit? What would you like to tell about? Choose one sight.

  • - Make up the dialogues. Use the key words on the cards. (the teacher reads these key words and the children translate).

  • 6. The game “Hot chair”.

  • One pupil sits on the chair. Behind her/him the teacher shows some things. Pupils should describe them or give definition. The sitting pupil is to guess what it is.

  • (the flag, the English tea, a rose, a double-decker)

  • 7. Now I’d like to check up your knowledge in writing. Mini-dictation. Answer the questions briefly as quick as you can.

  • 1) What is the name of the channel which separate the British Isles from the Continent of Europe? (the English Channel)

  • 2) What are the main rivers of Gr. Br.? (the Thames, the Severn)

  • 3) What are the largest cities of the UK? (London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast)

  • 4) What is the official language of the UK? (English)

  • 5) How do they call the flag of the UK? (the Union Jack)

  • 6) What does the British Parliament consist of? (House of Lords and House of Commons)

  • 7) What holidays in the UK do you know?

  • 8. Conclusion.

  • - There is the beginning of the sentence. Complete it:

  • 9. Did you love England? You may express your feelings in your own rhyme. You should use such words:

  1. Org. moment.

  • How are you? What are feeling now? You see the sun with some rays (it is drawn on the blackboard). Let’s write about your feelings now under each ray: joy, worry, interest, happiness, fear. At the end of the lesson we’ll know if your feelings will change.

  • 2. – We are having a Food Fair today. Our Food Fair consists of two parts. At first we’ll do tasks which focus you to the second period of the lesson. You will visit Kazakh, English, American cafes and restaurants. Then you’ll try to write down the recipe of your favourite dish.

  • To visit such public places you should know Table Manners. There are Table Manners, let’s read them and translate (they are written on the posters).

  • I am sure you will keep Table Manners in your future life.

  • 3. Let’s review Vocabulary on the theme “Meals”. Let’s play the game “The word Circle” (the 1st student names the word, the 2nd one names the word on the last letter of the previous word).

  • 4. Your next task is to solve and comment Healthy Eating Test.

  • 5. I think we are ready to visit Food Fair. You see three booths here. Each booth represents a national cuisine. The owners will also tell us about their national, traditional dishes (the students read reports).

  • -Thank you. Owners of all the booths have represented their cafes and restaurants well. And I think it’s time to taste their food(two students make up dialogues-between the visitor and the owner ).

  • 6. What dish do you like best of all? Why?

  • Now your task will be to write down the ingredients of your favourite dish (then children read them aloud).

  • - Well, when you know ingredients are you able to write the recipe of your dish? These are necessary verbs which you may use describing cooking your dish (they are written on the blackboard).

  • 7. Well, our Food Fair is over. What can you say about the lesson? Express your feelings now ( the teacher pays children attention to the sun and changes the feelings – worry, fear-satisfaction, adds - fun).

Welcome!

Children in the primary school are lucky. They can plunge in magic world of fairy-tales. With great pleasure children introduced animals from different fairy-tales in the extra-curriculum “The world of fairy-tales ”. They could reproduce animals’ nature and special features of their behavior. You have a chance to see the two plays of the third “A” and “B” forms – “House in the wood” and “Turnip”. Welcome!

Pupils of the primary school showed not only actor skills but some students differed in reading. Their technique of reading was the best. These students will be rewarded by the head of English faculty Махатова Надежда Сергеевна…

- You are quite right. Every time at the end of my trip I began missing home. In honor of the secondary school - the scene “Travel agency”, the fifth “B”.

- Laugh lengthens life. Do you like humorous stories? I think the answers will be positive. Now you have a chance to see the humorous play of the eighth “A” form “A double-dyed deceiver”

- Great Britain is unique country with its vast and green plains, deep rivers and lakes, mysterious castles. You know that in consists of 4 parts: England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Wales is a country of hills and mountains. Wales has been united with England for seven hundreds years. Prince Charles became the prince of Wales in 1969. Further he will probably be a king of Great Britain. What amazing and exciting performance of introducing crown it is! Have a look at this scene of the eleventh “A”.

  2. Warm up.

– The theme of our lesson is “We like dancing”.

Who is the main character in our book? (teddy bear) (the teacher shows the picture of him).

– Today we’ll speak what Teddy bear likes doing and learn about your favourite activities. The best will get some stickers.

  1. – Well, at first Teddy wants you to describe him. What does he look like?(He is little and funny. He has got two arms, two legs, short ears, brown eyes and a brown nose).

  • Remember what he likes doing. But first repeat after me in chorus:

Swimming, singing, drawing, dancing, playing, reading (these cards are on the blackboard)

Complete the sentence: I like (doing …)

- Learn what your friends like doing. Ask each other questions:” Do you like..?” “What do you like…?” and answer “Yes, I do / No, I don’t” (these cards on the board). After that the teacher asks each pupil:

-What does he / she like doing?

(there are pupils’ pictures) (the teacher asks):

  • Who likes (swimming)?

  1. Relaxing. Sing the song “I like…” (Ex. 5 p.70) (with activities words above)

  2. Work on reading.

- Find out what Ted and Mike like doing. (at first the teacher reads the text, then read in chorus. The teacher repeats the question again)

Work about the text.

  • The first task: find and translate Russian word combination into English:

1. мы можем играть с мячиками, мы хорошие друзья

2. мы можем играть в прятки, Тед любит играть в компьютерные игры

3. у меня есть два друга, Майк любит играть в машинки

  • The second task: True or false.

  1. – Well, some days ago Teddy got a letter from Ted. Read it and translate. What is it season in the text? (summer) Ted prepared some questions for you. (Pupils answered them orally. The teacher pays attention to the question: “What do you like doing in winter?” She shows the picture with winter activities).

  • Then complete the sentences on the cards in written form.)

  1. What did you do during the lesson? Did you like the lesson? Choose one of these colourful cards:

  1. Make a conclusion. Giving marks. Pupils get stickers doing it as Teddy.

  • To revise the clothes vocabulary and the usage of the Possessive Case in the sentences;

To teach to give full answers to the questions and describe favourite clothes;

  • To bring up students not only be smart and stylish in their clothes but should be polite and educated people

  2. - The theme of our lesson is “Clothes”. Last lesson we told about “Clothes through the ages” but today we are going to speak about modern clothes.

  3. – Let’s revise clothes vocabulary.

  1. - Now I’ll pass you cards with sentences and pictures. You should turn pictures into words.

  2. – Well, you are welcome to listen to the song and sing it “What do you wear?

  • Could you complete the 3d and the 4thverses? How would you say?

  • What do you wear on your hands? (gloves, mittens)

  • What do you wear when it’s cold? (A jacket, a coat, a fur coat)

  • What do you wear when it’s warm? (a dress, a blouse, a skirt, a sarafan)

  1. The game “Guess”.

  • I have got parts of your clothes. These clothes are yours. Each of you gave me beforehand. Answer my questions:

  • Whose is this? Whose are these? Answering the questions use the structures:

This…is… These…are…

(they are written on the cards)

  • What grammar material did you use in your sentences? (Possessive case)

  • When do we usually use it? (to say who things belong to)

  1. Revision. Practice.

AB Ex. 4 p. 61- the students do independently: read, choose and translate.

Ex 5 p. 61- the teacher asks q-s and the students answer in written form.

  1. – In school you must keep school rules. As to clothes you must wear school uniform. What must you wear? (a white blouse or a white shirt, a dark skirt or trousers)

  • Well, do you like dressing up? Your home task was to make a project – dress up a doll with your favorite clothes and describe it.Imagine you are designers.

  1. - Let’s make a conclusion. Look at the blackboard. You see the proverb “Appearances are deceitful” (Внешностьобманчива= Слицаводунепить) Can you explain it?

  • You are not only be smart and tidy in your clothes but you must be polite and educated person.

  1. Home task: to explain your ideas about this proverb in written form
