Воспитательная: содействовать формированию коммуникативных навыков и развитию активности на уроке.
Развивающая: содействовать развитию речевой активности, памяти, образного мышления, познавательного интереса, рефлексии деятельности.

Познакомить учащихся со знаменитыми путешественниками.

I. этап
1. Организационный момент.
T: Good afternoon, my dear friends! Nice to see you again!

T: At this lesson we are going to repeat everything we have learnt about explorers and their discoveries and get acquainted with some well-known travelers, work with words, grammar, and do different activities that you have prepared in groups for us. But now let’s start with warming up.

T: Let’s start with the countries. What countries do you know?

T: Great, you know so many countries. Look at the board, please. Where can you see and visit these things? (Работа со слайдами)

The Norwegian polar explorer was the first person to reach the South Pole in 1911.He was also a famous explorer of Antarctica. He spent there more than a year conducting explorations. He wrote quite a number of books and was an outstanding public figure.

This Russian professional traveler is the only person in the world who has conquered all three poler the South the North and the pole of height. He reached the the South Pole alone on skies on the 5th of January in 1996 and ten days later he conquered the highest peak in Antarctica- massive Winson.
In the period of the ten years since 1986 to1996 he conducted 36 sport and scientific expeditions took part in international ski and bike competitions. In 1992 he conducted the highest mountain peak Everest. Besides he made the world journey on yachts “ Karaana” and “Formoza”.

This is a famous Italian traveler and author who was the first Europian to explore the Far East. He lived in the 13th – 14th centuries and his book was the most famous travel book in history. For long time it was the only source in Europe for information on the geography and life of the Far East. His book became the basis for some of the first accurate maps of Asia made in Europe. It helped to inspire an interest in the East in Christopher Columbus who tried to reach the Far East by sailing west from Europe. ( Marco Polo)
In the sixteenth century, Ferdinand Magellan led the first expedition to sail around the world.
As a young Portuguese noble, he served the king of Portugal,. After he was dismissed from service to the king of Portugal, he offered to serve the future Emperor Charles V of Spain.
On September 20,1519, Magellan set sail from Spain with five ships. More than a year later, one of these ships was exploring the topography of South America in search of a water route across the continent. This ship sank, but the remaining four ships searched along the southern peninsula of South America.
Finally they found the passage they sought near a latitude of 50 degrees S. Magellan named this passage the Strait of All Saints, but today we know it as the Strait of Magellan.
