Either, neither.

Either has three meanings:

1). Each of the two ( один из двух, любой из двух ):

You can take either of these books.

Either of you is right.

2). One or the other ( тот или другой ) – either … or ( или … или ):

I will do it either now or later.

3). Both (и тот, и другой, каждый из двух , оба ):

There are trees on either side of the street.

Neither ( ни тот , ни другой ) :

Neither of you knew it perfectly.

There are also conjunctions: either …. Or ( или … или ) ; neither …. Nor ( ни … ни );

1). You can go either to the cinema or to the theatre.

2). Neither she nor he liked the film.

We can use expressions like – Neither ( nor ) am I – to reply to a negative statement:

He is not a good swimmer. – Neither ( nor ) am I.

He doesn’t do exercises. – Neither ( nor ) do I.

He will not go there. – Neither ( nor ) will I.

He hasn’t done this task. – Neither ( nor ) have I.

We can say – I am not either – to mean the same as – Neither am I ­:

He is not a good swimmer. – I am not either.
