This summer, I will go to Japan. I want to visit this country, because my mum and dad live there at this moment. They moved to Japan seven years ago. Three weeks ago, my parents sent me an invitation. So, I’ve decided to spend this summer in Japan.

Last year my grandparents and I visited Georgia. The three of us visited this country, because we wanted to learn its culture. We found out that Georgia is a wonderful country with exotic, mysterious and ancient culture. Georgian people consider guests to be a gift. I’m so glad that we visited this beautiful country.

As you know, winters in Japan are not really cold. Last winter the average temperature was about 7 degrees below zero. Anyway, my wife and I really wanted to swim in the sea. As a result, we decided to travel to Egypt. It was so hot there. The sun was shining so bright. After that trip we came to a conclusion that we would like to spend next winter in Egypt too.

Guys, can you imagine? Last week I bought a lottery ticket and won a trip to Turkey. I’m so excited! It’s amazing! I have wanted to visit this country since my childhood. I think that my trip will be awesome. I have to go and pack my things now, because I’m leaving tomorrow. I’m so happy!

My country is one of the poorest countries in the world. If you want to earn good money here, you need to work from morning till night. That’s why I’ve decided to move to the USA. As I know, it’s a prosperous and rich country. And I want to have a good life, live in my own house and travel around the world. I think, I will move to the USA next year.

As you can understand, today in the lesson we will:

·        talk about the term “travel”;

And

·        discuss the reasons why people travel.

The term “travel” can be both a verb and a noun.

If this term is a verb, it means “to go from one place to another, especially over a long distance, in a plane, train, car and so on”.

If it’s a noun, it means “the activity of traveling, usually over a long distance”.

There is no blank space on the map of the world. Modern people have an opportunity to travel a lot. They travel by plane, by train, by car, by bus or even on foot. Travelling became a very important part of people’s life.

—   Now let’s discuss the main reasons why people travel.

The first reason is to visit family and friends.

Sometimes our family members or friends move to another country. It can be on the other side of the world or just in another country next to yours. It doesn’t matter where you are, but you will want to visit them at some point or another.

Such visits can help you not only to see your loved ones, but also to see how they live. If we know that our relatives and friends live in good conditions, this will help us to calm down and stop worrying about them so much.

The second reason is to spend time with relatives or friends.

Travelling is a wonderful way to spend time with the people you love. All of you will remember the trip and enjoy the memories after that. Planning a trip with your friends can be a great way to say goodbye before going to college or university. It can also be a great thing to do together as something you will always remember.

The third reason is to find better weather.

Many people travel, because they want to escape the climate in their native countries. People who live in the countries with cold climate race to the sunshine. They want to top up their tans and feel the warmth of the sun.

People who live in the countries where it’s always hot wish to travel to places with cold climate. They want to try such activities as skiing, skating, snowboarding, sledding, etc. It’s not easy to do such things in their home countries.

Now let’s discuss the following reason.

People can travel around the world to find love.

Some people live in small towns and just can’t meet anyone. And some live in big towns, but they still cannot find their love. Travelling is one of the best ways to try to find your soul mate.

The very least you will find is someone with the same desire to travel and visit different countries as you.

Of course, going travelling doesn’t guarantee that you will meet the love of your life, but it certainly gives you a chance to do that.

The following reason is to seek for work.

People travel very often because they want to experience how to work from another place. Sometimes it’s really hard to earn good money, especially in poor countries. As a result, some people decide to work abroad because they are looking for better conditions. Unfortunately, they have to leave their families for a while, because they need to earn some money.

There are lots of other people such as businessmen, politicians, actors and singers who also have to travel a lot because of work.

Of course, it’s not quite what we call “to travel” because very often such people don’t have time to visit interesting places and have fun there.

The sixth reason is to discover other cultures.

People can travel because they want to see the difference between their culture and other cultures. Travels help us to learn how people live, what they eat, what their hobbies are, etc.

The following reason is to find inspiration.

Lots of people find their inspiration in music or literature. Some find it in people they love. But many people find their inspiration in travels. After some journeys writers can make up wonderful stories and artists can draw beautiful pictures.

There are also lots of other reasons. Let’s look at the list of these reasons.

·        People can travel to escape housework by staying in hotels.

·        Travel bloggers visit different countries for pleasure and to research future blog posts.

·        Some people travel because they want to find themselves.

·        Writers and journalists travel to get ideas and information for their work.

·        People travel to make new friends and meet different people.

·        Photographers travel to have wonderful photographic opportunities.

·        Some people travel because they want to try traditional food.

·        People can also travel because they want to see all beautiful sceneries of different countries.

·        Travelling is a wonderful opportunity to learn languages.

·        Sometimes people travel because they want to have no timetable and routine.

·        Travelling is also a great way to escape the problems or forget about them for a while.
