Where do people travel?

—   Two days ago, we met Martin’s neighbor Michael.

—   He invited us to his office.

—   Michael works at a travel agency.

—   So yesterday we decided to visit him.

—   When we came to his office, we saw him and a woman.

—   They were talking about something.

—   Listen to their conversation and you’ll guess the topic of the lesson.

—   Hello. My name is Michael. How can I help you?

—   Hello. My name is Susan Brown. I want to travel somewhere but I don’t know where.

—   Well… do you have any ideas?

—   No, I don’t.

—   Oh, all right. What about your preferences? Do you want to go to the country with cold or warm climate?

—   I don’t know. This is my first trip. I want it to be perfect!

—   I’m sorry. Can you give me any information, please? I don’t know where you want to go.

The woman started crying.

—   Oh, Mrs. Brown, please, stop crying!

—   When we saw the woman crying, we decided to come and talk to her.

—   Hello, Mrs. Brown. We are friends of Michael.

—   Do you need any help?

—   Yeees. I want to go somewhere but I don’t know where. I have no ideas at all!

—   Oh, don’t worry. We will help you with that.

—   James, Martin and I will tell you about some countries which are very popular among visitors.

—   Oh, cool. That would be awesome!

As you can understand, today in the lesson we will:

·        talk about the term “travel”;

And

·        discuss the countries where people like to travel.

The term “travel” can be both a verb and a noun.

If this term is a verb, it means “to go from one place to another, especially over a long distance, in a plane, train, car and so on”.

If it’s a noun, it means “the activity of traveling, usually over a long distance”.

Nowadays people travel a lot. Tourism has become very popular and turned into a prosperous business. If you want to experience a completely new environment, to see new places and meet new people, travelling is the right way.

Sometimes people travel on business. This allows them to get more information about achievements of other companies. Travelling can also help them to make their own business more successful.

Lots of people travel for educational purposes, or they visit their relatives and friends. But very often they travel somewhere just to have fun.

—   We’ve discussed the term “travel”.

—   Now let’s talk about the countries where people love to travel.

—   Let’s start.

One of the most popular countries among visitors is Italy.

Italy is an extremely beautiful country.

You can enjoy picturesque trails, beautiful terraces and cultural heritage.

For an unforgettable trip in Italy, you should visit its top destinations, including Rome, Tuscany, Florence and Venice.

First of all, you should visit Rome with its lovely streets filled with cultural and architectural treasures. After that you should go to Florence. It might seem like an open-air museum to you.

Then take a road trip to Tuscany. Its many attractions include historic cities, art-filled museums and churches, great food, beautiful beaches and amazing countryside. 

Finally, settle down in Venice. It’s the most unique city in the world.

Italy is indeed one of the best countries to travel in the world.

The following country is France.

This country is famous for its cuisine, fashion, culture and interesting language.

France is one of the most beautiful and romantic countries on Earth.

A trip to France will ruin your normal life in so many ways.

Firstly, for some people every other language will just sound harsh after they spend some days listening to the French talk. Secondly, if you try French food, all other kinds of food will seem tasteless for you.

Now let’s talk about Spain.

In this country people can find everything from plains and green valleys, hills and snowy mountains in the north, to regions almost as a desert in the south. In the southern and western parts tourists can find beautiful beaches with white sand. On the Canary Islands you will find the volcanic black sand beaches. Millions of tourists come to Spain every year.

The most popular destination in Spain is Madrid. It seems that this city never sleeps. Due to its central location, Madrid has an excellent communication network with provincial areas. Barcelona is also a favorite tourist destination here. It’s famous for its impressive architecture, beaches and water sports.

The following country is Canada.

Canada was named the second-most beautiful country in the world. People here are very kind, polite and friendly. The food in this country is very delicious. If you have never tried real Canadian maple syrup, then you haven’t lived.

Canada is considered to be the perfect country for epic road trips and adventures.

The national parks in this wonderful country are home to the Rocky Mountains, to dense forests filled with trees that are hundreds of years old, and breathtaking lakes.

Now let’s talk about Georgia.

Mountainous, green and luxurious is the best way to describe Georgia. It’s located in the Caucasus region, just between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.

This country is home to tall mountains, green hills and stunning lakes.

The food here is very delicious.

Georgia is home to 525 grape species.

People here are very friendly and hospitable, because they believe that “a guest is sent from the God”. If you befriend a local here, you can be sure that you will be invited into their home and treated much like royalty. Everyone will ask you different questions and make sure that you feel comfortable. Georgians will try to make you fall in love with Georgia.

The following country is Greece.

Greece is famous for the perfect climatic conditions. This country is blessed with wonderful weather during the spring, summer and autumn months.

You will love the diverse landscape, the exotic color of the sea and the bright light of the sun. Each place in Greece has a different authentic style, both in the islands and in the mainland.

Greece is also one of the safest countries in the world. The criminality rate is very low, especially in the islands.

People here are very friendly and hospitable. Feel free to talk with the locals or stop them at the street to ask for directions. They love it!

Now let’s talk about Thailand.

Thailand has some of the best beaches in the world with warm and clear water.

Food here is very delicious and inexpensive.

Whether you visit this country in December or May, you should always expect warm weather and mostly clear days.

Pink water lilies in bloom are a sight to behold on lakes around this country.

After Michael and Susan discussed all the details, the woman left the office.

—   No problem, Michael.

—   To tell the truth, I didn’t know what to do with that woman when she started crying.

—   Yeah, she is so vulnerable.

—   And like all women, she doesn’t know what she wants.

—   Ha-ha. That’s right!
