Конспект урока "Prepositions in, on, under, behind, next to, in front of, opposite and between"

Hello, boys and girls! My name is Bobby.

And my name is Tobby. This is our friend Mobby.

Welcome to our lesson.

Today we have a guest.

It’s our friend Megan.

Hi, guys!

Megan is moving to a new house.

And she asked us for help.

I asked boys to help me to furnish my new house.

And we need to put all the furniture into the correct rooms.

So, today in the lesson we will:

talk about furniture;

learn the prepositions in, on, under, behind, next to, in front of, opposite, between;

And

put the knowledge into practice.

How lucky we are, we came on time.

Look! The lorry has just come up to Megan’s new house.

Let’s see what new pieces of furniture Megan has got for her new house.

And don’t forget that we should put the furniture into the correct rooms.

By the way, do you remember the names of the rooms?

Let’s look at the rooms which are downstairs.

This is a kitchen. Let’s look inside it.

“Kitchen” is translated as “кухня”.

Another room downstairs is a living room. Let’s look inside.

“Living room” is translated as “гостиная, зал”.

Now let’s discuss what rooms we have upstairs.

Here we have a bedroom. Let’s look inside it.

“Bedroom” is translated as “спальня”.

And we have two more rooms left.

This is a study room. Let’s look inside.

“Study room” is translated as “учебная комната”.

And the last room is in the middle of the second floor.

It’s a bathroom. Let’s look inside it.

“Bathroom” is translated as “ванная комната”.

Great! Now we are ready to furnish the house!

Look, what’s there in the lorry?

There is a bed in the lorry, and we can put it into the bedroom.

Do you see where we can put it here?

Right, there is enough space next to the bookcase.

“Next to” is translated as “рядом”.

Now there is a bed next to the bookcase in the bedroom.

What is there in the lorry?

There is a nice soft sofa in the lorry.

Look at the rooms, where should we put this sofa?

Living room, of course.

Where can we put it?

We can put it right here, under that blue wall clock.

“Under” is translated as “под”.

Now there is a sofa under the wall clock in the living room.

What is there in the lorry?

There is a chair in the lorry.

Where can we put it?

Certainly the best place for this chair is the study room.

Megan, do you see any suitable place for this chair?

I think it’s here, between the table and the chest of drawers.

“Between” is translated as “между”.

Now, there is a chair between the table and the chest of drawers.

Is there anything else in the lorry?

Oh, yes, there are two lamps.

Be careful, they are fragile.

The word “fragile” is translated as “хрупкий”.

How do you think where can we put these lamps?

I think this green one suits the study room.

Let’s put it on this lovely brown table.

“On” is translated as “на”.

Now, there is a lamp on the table in the study room.

And this lamp will look nice in the bedroom.

Will you find the place for it, please?

Sure.

Well done. Now, there is a lamp on the table in the bedroom.

Look, what is there in the lorry?

There is a washing machine in the lorry.

Where can we put it?

It’s not a problem. Let’s take it straight to the bathroom.

Let’s put it in front of the bathtub.

“In front of” is translated as “перед, впереди”.

So, there is a washing machine in front of the bathtub in the bathroom.

Look, what is there in the lorry?

There is a table in the lorry.

Look at the rooms, where should we put this table?

Kitchen, of course.

Where can we put it?

We can put it right here, opposite this brown sofa.

“Opposite” is translated as “напротив”.

Now there is a table opposite the sofa in the kitchen.

What is there in the lorry?

There are four vases in the lorry.

How do you think where should we put these vases?

Well… I think we should put them into the living room.

Where can we put them here?

We can put them in the cupboard.

“In” is translated as “в”.

Look! Now there are four vases in the cupboard.

Is there anything else in the lorry?

Yes, there is only one thing left.

What is it?

It’s a mirror.

Where should we put it?

Bedroom, of course.

Where can we put it?

We can put it right here, behind this little chair.

“Behind” is translated as “позади, за, сзади”.

Now there is a mirror behind the little chair.

Hooray, the house is furnished!

Thanks everybody for help.

Now let’s pronounce all the prepositions of place.

Listen and repeat after me.

In

On

Under

Behind

Next to

In front of

Opposite

Between

Now, boys and girls, it’s time to play!

Look. What is this?

It’s a cooker.

Where is the cooker?

Check yourselves.

The cooker is in the kitchen.

Now answer my question, please.

Is the cooker next to or in front of the small brown cupboard?

Let’s check.

They stand in one line. It means that the cooker is next to the small brown cupboard.

What is this?

It’s a chair.

Where is the chair in the kitchen?

Check yourselves.

The chair is under the bookshelves.

Look! It’s a big cupboard.

Where is this big cupboard in the kitchen?

Is it between or opposite the small brown cupboard and the bookshelves?

Let’s check the right answer.

The big cupboard is between the small cupboard and the bookshelves.

Guys, look! What’s this?

It’s a flower.

Where is this flower?

Check yourselves.

The flower is on the small cupboard.

Now look at this beautiful table.

Where is this table in the kitchen?

Let’s check the right answer.

The table is in front of the big cupboard.

Now tell me, please, is the big cupboard behind or next to the kitchen table?

Check yourselves.

The big cupboard is behind the kitchen table.

Guys, look! There is someone in the kitchen.

It’s a woman.

Is the woman opposite or behind the small cupboard?

Let’s check.

The woman is opposite the small cupboard.

Well done, guys! It was fun. But it’s time for me to go.

Have a nice day, Megan.

Thanks, you too, boys. See you soon.

See you.

Boys and girls, now you know everything about the prepositions in, on, under, behind, next to, in front of, opposite and between.

That’s all for today, our dear friends.

See you soon.
