Урок начинается с повторения лексики по теме «Appearance», которая разделена на две большие группы: a) слова, которые употребляются с have got и b) c глаголом to be. Используя таблицы со словами, учащимся необходимо описать четыре фотографии. Далее мы оказываемся в коридоре рекламного агентства, где рассматриваются четыре кандидатуры на постер шоколадного батончика «Moment». Учащиеся выполняют задания во время и после прослушивания беседы рекламных агентов. Далее предлагаются фрагменты фотографий лиц известных людей и небольшие подсказки для их угадывания. Во второй части урока учащиеся учатся правильно отвечать на вопросы с «like» на примере беседы Тома и Стива и выполняют практическое задание на их отработку.

Hello guys,

This is Tommie again.

In today’s lesson we’re going to describe people’s appearance.

You will also learn how to ask and answer the questions with “like”.

You’ll see two groups of words. I’m sure that you already know some of them.

Group A

baby, teenager, young, middle-aged, elderly

tall, of medium height, short

slim, thin, skinny, well-built, overweight, fat

beautiful, good-looking, attractive, cute, ugly

white, black, Asian

Group B

Blue/hazel/green eyes

Long/short/shoulder-length/straight/curly/blond(e)/dark/grey hair

A beard/a moustache/scar/freckles

Which group of words do we use with have got?

Which group of words do we use with be?

We use have got with group B. And we use be with group A.

Write a description of one person in photos 1-4. Use the words from the table.

These people and our friend Kristie sent their photos to the agency that was looking for someone for a poster to advertise a new chocolate bar “Moment”.

Listen to Meg and Kevin from the agency and put the people they talk about in order.

OK, Kevin. I’ve got four people for the Moment poster. See, what you think.

Right: Where’s the first one? Hmm, he’s not bad.

Yes, I quite like him. He’s got a nice moustache and a beard. He looks friendly, the type of person who buys a lot of chocolate.

I can see that!

Yes, he’s a bit overweight, isn’t he? Is that a problem?

Er, I’m not sure. Who else have you got?

Well, there’s him.

He’s better, maybe. He’s tall and good-looking.

He’s is very good-looking – but I don’t know about the hair.

Oh, yes, you’re right. Who is next?

What about her?

She’s nice. Tall, slim, green eyes, nice long hair.

Yes, she’s beautiful – but do we want a beautiful person on this poster? Do beautiful people eat chocolate?

Not very often. But everyone wants to be beautiful and eat chocolate! Is that all of them?

No, there’s one more.

She – well, she’s a bit older, isn’t she?

Yes, but maybe that’s good. People of her age buy a lot of chocolate. And she’s attractive – she looks very friendly and happy, I think.

Yes, she does.

And people eat chocolate because they want to be happy.

Yes, you’re right. Well, let’s choose.

OK. Do we want a man or a woman?

The people were mentioned in the following order: Pete, Jake, Kristie and Lily.

Listen to the conversation again and make notes on the people’s good points and bad points.

OK. Do we want a man or a woman?

I think that we need a woman, not a man.

Why’s that?

Well, women buy more chocolate than men. So they want to see a woman on the poster.

Yes, good point.

And people know that chocolate makes you fat – but everyone wants to be thin.

So we want someone slim.

And people always think they are young – so they want to see young people on posters.

Which means …

… Kristie.

OK. Kristie. Fine. Shall I ask her to come for a meeting?

Yes, good idea.

So…They have chosen Kristie for the poster.

Read the descriptions and look at the pictures. Can you guess the people?

Who are they?

He’s a famous showman and actor. He is of medium height and well-built. He’s bald. He’s got very good sense of humor. He is the host of some popular TV shows.

She’s a beautiful actress. She’s very tall and thin. She has red hair. She lives in Australia. She has two adopted children.

Tommie asks Steve about his new girlfriend. Listen and match the questions to the answers.
