Can I help you?

Can I help you?"

Tommie: Hello guys,

Is there a big shopping center in your town or city? Do you like it? Why? Why not?

Today we are going to Grafton Center where we’ll visit different kinds of shops. Actually, we’re not going shopping. Kristie is looking for a job for summer holidays. … Where is Maddie?

Oh, she’s lost in the Top Secret’s sales!

What woman could say NO to sales? … Come on. Let’s go!

Let's have a look at the notice-board. I’m sure there ought to be some good offers in here:

manager

cashier

shop assistant

security guard

cleaner

Can you match the jobs to the correct descriptions?

I’m in charge of the shop and staff. – Manager

People pay me money. – Cashier

I clean the shop. – Cleaner

I help customers. – Shop assistant

I protect the shop. – Security guard.

Tommie: Well, Kristie, what’s your choice?

Kristie: I think, the position of a shop assistant in the beauty shop suits me best.

Let’s go there. I need to talk to the manager.

Tommie: Oh, look! Somebody’s left a shopping list. Oh my God! It’s endless!

Where do people usually buy these things?

Aspirin, newspapers, sunglasses, bread, sausages, apples, teddy bear, socks, tennis racket, red shoes, memory stick, new sofa!

You can buy Aspirin at the chemist’s.

To get newspapers you need to go to the newsagent’s.

Sunglasses are sold at the optician’s.

Bread can be bought at the baker’s.

You can buy sausages at the butcher’s.

Apples can be bought at the greengrocer’s.

To get a teddy bear for your kid, you need to go to the toy shop.

Socks are sold at the clothes shop.

You can buy a tennis racket at the sport’s shop.

Red shoes are on the shelves of the shoe shop.

You can find a memory stick at the electronics shop.

And a new sofa for you is at the department store.

You can find a wide variety of food and things for home in the supermarket.

Now say four (4) more things you can buy in these shops.

Listen to the customers. What do they want? How much is it? Complete the table with the correct item and price.
