Внешне определяется по –ing. Отражает незаконченный процесс. В предложении может быть: 1. определением – соответствует русскому причастию (стоит либо перед существительным, либо после него) A fading flower lies on the table. 2. обстоятельством (образа действия, причины, времени) Mary came in singing loudly. Whistling Tom left the room. Not knowing her address I cannot write to her. Studying English we must learn the words. | Внешне определяется по V-ed, V3. Отражает законченный процесс. В предложении может быть: 1. определением – соответствует русскому деепричастию Lost time never comes again. He has found a broken umbrella. The faded flower lies on the table. 2. обстоятельством (в этом случае перед ним часто стоят союзы when, if, unless) When asked he answered at once.
Вместо Participle II легче употребить форму Passive, помня, что существительное или местоимение в обеих частях предложения одно и то же. На русский язык переводится в Passive: Когда его спрашивали, он тотчас же отвечал. |
