Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку на тему "The Earth Day"


Цель: научить школьников использовать английский язык как инструмент общения в диалоге культур современного мира.

Задачи:

Обучающие:

  1. Обобщение, систематизация и активизация лексико-грамматического материала по теме: «Охрана окружающей среды»;

  2. Закрепление полученных знаний по теме через монологические и диалогические формы высказывания;

  3. Расширение словарного запаса и умение его использовать в конкретной ситуации;

  4. Использование ИКТ - технологий в составлении красочных презентаций с музыкальным сопровождением и видео фрагментами.

Воспитательная: Расширение кругозора, воспитание ответственного отношения к вопросам, связанным с экологией Земли, развитие навыков группового взаимодействия.

Развивающая: Развитие языковых навыков на уровне монологических логических высказываний, публичного выступления, умение работать в разноуровневой и разновозрастной группе, умение находить, сортировать и систематизировать материал.

Оборудование: экологические постеры, экран, мультимедийный проектор, компьютер.

Ход мероприятия:

Teacher: Good morning, my friends! I am glad to see you! Today we have many guests and we are glad to see them too. Let’s begin our event. What date is it today?

P: Today is the 22nd of April.

T: Yes, you are right. And what holiday do we celebrate on the 22nd of April?

P: It is Earth Day.

T: Right you are. Now, please, let’s listen to the students of the 7th form, they will tell us about this holiday.

P1: Earth Day is a special day in which people are encouraged to think about the importance of keeping their planet healthy. In 1969 (nineteen sixty-nine) Gaylord Nelson, a senator from the United States, became very worried about the environment. He saw many problems, such as oil spills, pollution from factories and cars, pesticides, and the loss of natural areas. Nelson wanted to teach people about the environment on a special day each year. With a little publicity, or attention, the idea of a special day to teach about the environment became very popular at a grassroots level.


P2: The next year, 1970 (nineteen seventy), more than 20 million Americans participated in Earth Day activities. Many of the Earth Day activities occurred in schools and universities. Teachers taught students about the importance of keeping a healthy environment. University professors taught about social and environmental problems. Now, more than 175 (one hundred seventy-five) countries celebrate Earth Day around the world.


P3: Although it is not a free day, or a day in which people do not work, most cities and communities in the United States organize activities in which people clean up rivers, parks, or other public spaces. Many environmental organizations encourage people to think about how they can make the Earth a cleaner place to live. Teachers encourage students to make presentations and learn more about the environment or pollution. Although Earth Day has brought a lot of publicity to environmental causes, there is still a need to do more to help the Earth.

T.: That’s right. Thank you. Sit down, please. We are concerned about the ecology today. That is why we have a talk about the ecology and environment. That is why we decided to make a programme to protect the environment, to save the nature, to keep the Earth clean. What do we do to keep the Earth clean? Class (хором) – We love the Earth – our home. (Выходят ученики с картинками).

T.: What do you do keep the Earth clean?

P1.: I don’t smoke. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P2.: I don’t throw litter in public places. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P3.: I buy milk in cartons. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P4.: I plant a tree in the garden. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P5.: I pick up litter as walking in the forest. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P6.: I never break glass bottles. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P7.: I don’t cut wild flowers. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P8.: I turn off the light when I leave the room. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P9.: I water the home flowers. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P10.: I plant flowers in the garden. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

P11.: I never buy a fir tree to a New Year holiday. What do you do to keep the Earth clean?

T.: I save water. What do you do to keep the Earth clean? (Обращается к классу).

Class: We love the Earth – our home. (хором)

T.: Those are the items of our programme keeping the Earth clean. Let’s read our programme. (Показывает на доску, читают хором программу, которую составили ребята, соединили и обобщили вместе).



























T.: Now, the students of the 6th form will sing a song.

Kids for saving earth: Promise Song

The Earth is my home.
I promise to keep it healthy and beautiful.
I will love the land, the air, the water and all living creatures.
I will be a defender of my planet.
United with friends. I will save the Earth.

T.: How beautiful the Earth is! The Earth is our home, our land. It is full of beautiful flowers, plants, trees which grow and blossom in the meadows, on the banks of the rivers and lakes, in the forests and in our gardens.

T.: That’s right. We know many poems about our land. So the student of the 7th form will read one of them.

The Earth is ours to enjoy

For every little girl and boy.

But we must always be aware

That all its beauty we must share

With all the children yet to come,

Who want to laugh and play and run

Around the trees and in the fields.

So we must keep our planet free

From messy trash and debris

With air that’s clean and fresh and clear

For all to breathу from year to year.

We must never ever abuse

Our sweet Earth that’s ours to use.

T.: Good. Let’s watch video and answer, please: “What causes land pollution?”

T: Well, now there are many public movements for environmental protection. What do you know about them?

P1.: In recent years people have become more sensitive to the nature. Still more public organizations and unofficial environmentalist movements have been established every year. In 1987 a “Green Peace” public commission has been set up. Its main goal is to combine the people’s efforts for peace and environmental protection.

P2: “Travels for Peace and Nature” is the name of another public movement that appeared in Russia some years ago. It concentrates its efforts of theory and practical work. The movements launches all kids of environmental actions and informs the public of the ways, means and results of this work. Russia is cooperating in the field of environmental protection with the United States, Canada, Norway, Finland and other countries. Russia and the United States are carrying out joint projects to study and protect the environmental system of the Arctic and Subarctic regions and also study some of the natural processes in the permafrost zone.

T.: Well, my friends, I think, everybody knows, how we can help our nature to protect the environment. We can help the Earth, working hard, cleaning the environment and planting trees, studying and loving nature. Now, the student of the 6th form will tell us a poem “I have a ball”.


I Have a Ball (Earth)

When I was born, I was given a ball
(The ball was green and blue),
My mom said: “Share and take good care,
It belongs to others too,
Keep it clean, keep the green parts green,
Try to make the blue parts bluer,
If you love this ball, it will never grow old,
In fact, it may grow newer.”

So, I did all that and I did some more,
“cuz I love this ball a lot,

And I hope that you will love it too…
It’s the only ball we’ve got!


T: Let everybody remember – we have only one Earth. And it is our challenge to keep it clean and healthy for us and for future generations. The Earth is our home.

Now, the students of the 6th form will sing one more song “This is our Earth”.
