Teacher1: Dear pupils, dear parents, dear colleagues, dear guests! We’re glad to meet you at our meeting! Welcome everybody!

Teacher2: Today we have invited you to our performance called “The Beatles Forever ”. Of course, you have already heard about the top group of the 60s’ from Liverpool “The Beatles” and their music which has become the world’s classics.

Teacher1: The pupils of the 9th form are taking part at our performance. Now they’ll give you some new information about “The Beatles”. So, be ready to entertain and sing with us.

( звучит один куплет песни “Love Me Do”)

P1: On 24th October 1962, “Love Me Do”, entered the British Top Thirty. It was the first single by an unknown group from Liverpool called The Beatles.

P2: It was the first of a number of big hits that would make John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr the most successful pop group the world has ever known.

P3: The Beatles began with a series of lunchtime concerts at Liverpool’s Cavern Club. The lunchtime concerts were great success. The road outside the club was always crowded with girls who worked in nearby shop and offices.

P4: They came to see the Beatles during their lunchbreak. The man who ran the local record shop went to see what all the fuss was about. His name was Brian Epstein, the man who became the Beatles manager.

P5: During the sixties, it seemed that the Beatles were always in the news headlines. They made successful records and interesting films.

Children sing the song “Yellow Submarine”

"YELLOW SUBMARINE" (L&M)

------------------

In the town where I was born

Lived a man who sailed the sea,

And he told us of his lives

In the Land of Submarines.

So we sail up to the sun

Till we found the sea of green,

And we live beneath the waves

In our Yellow Submarine.

We all live in our Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine.

And our friends are all aboard,

Many more of them live next door,

And the band begins to play ...

We all live in our Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine.

As we live the life of ease

Everyone of us has all we need,

Sky of blue and sea of green

In our Yellow Submarine.

We all live in our Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine,

We all live in our Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine.

P6: Beatlemania was the word used to describe the reaction of fans all over the world.

P7: “Beatlemania“ was born on the night of October 13th , the event surrounded by mystery. Beatle fans had screamed at concerts and pestered their relatives back home; the fan club had grown to vast proportions, and every record was a success; but nothing quite like the unprecedented scenes described in Monday’s newspapers, had ever happened before.

P6: The newspaper photographs, which appeared with the story, were close-up shots with four or five fans and a couple of policemen filling the frame. One witness said that there were no more than eight girls outside the theatre.

P8: Two days before, “She Loves You” had sold over a million copies and become their first “Gold Disc”. The song’s repeated “Yeah! Yeah!” became part of the legend.

P9: The Beatles’ meteoric rise to fame had resulted in an extraordinary phenomenon, which was to last for three years and cover most of the world.

P10: The girls literally screamed, wept, hurled themselves at the stage…some were so hysterical that they actually foamed at the mouth, wet themselves and fainted. It was terrifying.

P11: Every concert that the Beatles performed was characterized by a deafening scream from the audience, and the term “Beatlemania” was coined to imply Beatle-related hysteria.

P12: It did not seem to matter what they played- their presence on stage was enough!

P6: Not only was their style of singing new and exciting but their unusual haircuts – Beatles ”mops”- and crazy sense of humour became the latest fashion.

Children sing the song “Michelle”

"MICHELLE" (L&M)

Michelle ma belle

These are words that go together well

My Michelle.

Michelle ma belle

Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble

Tres bien ensemble.

I love you, I love you, I love you,

That's all I want to say,

Until I find a way

I will say the only words I know

That you'll understand.

Michelle ma belle

Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble

Tres bien ensemble.

I need you, I need you, I need you,

I need to make you see,

Oh, what you mean to me...

Until I do I'm hoping you will know

What I mean,

I love you ...

I want you, I want you, I want you,

I think you know by now

I'll get to you somehow,

Until I do I'm telling you

So you'll understand.

Michelle ma belle

Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble

Tres bien ensemble.

And I will say the only words I know

That you'll understand,

My Michelle...

P1: When Epstein died in 1967, things began to be wrong for the Beatles’ industry.

P2: The relationship between Lennon and McCartney became very difficult; they disagreed about music, they disliked each other’s wives, and they disagreed about who should be the new manager of their affairs.

P3: After a decade of successful music and films, the Beatles finally decided to break up in the early seventieth public disagreements about money and personalities.

P4: The last concert of the tour was on August 29th in San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. It was also their last concert.

P5: By the time they finished touring, they all hated it. George said the touring “…was great at first… But it got played out. We got in a rut.” The end of touring was the end of Beatlemania and the end of an era.

P6: During the seventies, the Beatles went off in different directions. Lennon became a solo performer and then property speculator in New York, buying and selling expensive apartments.

P7: McCartney formed a pop group called ‘Wings’ with his wife, Linda. George Harrison was rarely seen, but spend time raising money for charity. Ringo Starr began a surprisingly successful career as a film star.

Children sing the song “Here Comes The Sun”

"HERE COMES THE SUN" (HARRISON)

--------------------

Here comes the sun,

Here comes the sun and I say - it's alright.

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter,

Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here.

Here comes the sun,

Here comes the sun and I say - it's alright.

Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces,

Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here.

Here comes the sun,

Here comes the sun and I say - it's alright.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting,

Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear.

Here comes the sun,

Here comes the sun - it's alright.

P8: Thousands of people hoped and prayed that the Beatles would reunite, if only for just one more concert. To one of the many requests, Paul commented simply, ‘You cannot reheat a soufflé ’.

P9: Nevertheless, as far as the world was concerned, there was always a chance, however tiny, that the four would rejoin in friendship and harmony one day.

P10: That chance was brutally shattered ones and for all on December 8th 1980, when John Lennon was shot dead.

P11: John Lennon was murdered just before 11 p.m. on December 8, 1980 outside the Dakota, an apartment building where he lived in New York city. He had just got out of a car was walking to the entrance when a voice called, ‘ Mr. Lennon ’.

P12: Lennon turned and was shot five times. The killer threw his gun down and stood there smiling. ‘Do you know what you just did?’ shouted the doorman. ‘I just shot John Lennon’, the killer replied. Lennon was rushed to the hospital in a police car, but it was too late.

P3: The killer was 25 year – old Mark Chapman from Hawaii. Earlier the same evening he had asked Lennon for his autograph. In fact, he had been hanging around outside the apartment building for several days.

P2: Chapman was a fan of Lennon and had tried to imitate him in many ways. It is said that he even believed that he was John Lennon.

P7: For many people John Lennon was much more than a musician, he was a spiritual leader, a guru. All over the world, people gathered to mourn together.

P1: In new York and in Liverpool, thousands gathered, and as the sun set, the candles flickered and they said goodbye.

Together: The memories will linger and slowly fade, but the music is forever.

Children sing the song “All Together Now”

"ALL TOGETHER NOW" (L&M)

------------------

One, two, three, four,

Can I have a little more?

Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten,

I love you.

A, b, c, d,

Can I bring my friend to tea?

E, f, g, h, i, j,

I love you.

Bom, bom, bom, bom-pa bom,

Sail the ship, bom-pa bom,

Chop the tree, bom-pa bom,

Skip the rope, bom-pa bom,

Look at me.

All together now, all together now,

All together now, all together now.

Black, white, green, red,

Can I take my friend to bed?

Pink, brown, yellow, orange, and blue,

I love you.

All together now, all together now,

All together now, all together now.

Bom, bom, bom, bom-pa bom,

Sail the ship, bom-pa bom,

Chop the tree, bom-pa bom,

Skip the rope, bom-pa bom,

Look at me.

All together now, all together now,

All together now, all together now,

All together now.

P8: ‘…without them the sixties and the whole of popular music would have been different.’ Tony Palmer: All You Need Is Love.

Teachers: “The Beatles“ made the great peaceful revolution in people’s souls and in music as well, because the only thing which was throughout their music – it was LOVE.

( дети поют песню "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE" танцуя )

"ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE" (L&M)

Love, love, love,

Love, love, love,

Love, love, love.

There's nothing you can do that can't been done,

Nothing you can sing that can't been sung,

Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game,

It's easy.

There's nothing you can make that can't been made,

No one you can save that can't been saved,

Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time,

It's easy.

All you need is love,

All you need is love,

All you need is love, love,

Love is all you need.

There is nothing you can know that isn't known,

Nothing you can see that isn't shown,

Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be,

It's easy.

All you need is love,

All you need is love,

All you need is love, love,

Love is all you need.

All you need is love (all together now),

All you need is love (everybody),

All you need is love, love,

Love is all you need.

Love is all you need,

Love is all you need...
