Aims:
To test knowledge and spelling of the words on the topic.
To test knowledge of Past Simple.
Objects: an apple, a banana, some sweets, a carrot, packets of tea and coffee, a packet of instant soup, some jam, a slice of bread, an egg; a picture of meat, a glass; two home-made restaurant menus; a ball; cards with the Past forms of Irregular Verbs; cards with parts of sentences in Past Simple (questions and negative sentences).

1. Greeting.
Good morning, children! The theme of our lesson today is ”FOOD”. We are going to speak about food we eat. You’ve learnt the poem “Robin,” haven’t you? Do you remember it?

Robin, Robin what a man!
He eats as much as no one can.
He ate a lot of fish, he ate a lot of meat.
He ate a lot of ice-cream and a sweet.
He ate a lot of porridge and ten eggs
And all the cookies Mother had.
He drank a lot of juice, he ate a cake
Then said: “I have a stomach-ache.”
2. Review.
Choose and read aloud the words on the topic “Food”.
Make, made, apple, friend, eat, from, sweet, little, cup, different, tea, hopscotch, milk, tree, juice, drink, glass coffee, many, grow, much, drank, ate, country, ice-cream, see, thought, egg, pilot, grew, bread, soup, love, meat, fish came, potato, tasty, buy, fruit, bought, vegetable, carrot
Name the products you see on the table and say if you like them.
3. Word-box.
The pupils are to find words in the word-box and name them (17words).
(soup, apple, meat, eat, tea, food, drink, tasty, cup, milk, bread, coffee, glass, sweet, put, egg, juice).
4. Ball Game.
What can/can’t we eat?
Teacher: (throwing the ball to Pupil1) Jam!
Pupil1: (catching the ball) I like jam! (throws the ball back to the teacher)
Teacher: (throwing the ball to Pupil2) A table!
Pupil2: (throwing the ball back) We can’t eat a table!
5. Spelling Game.
Menu
The teacher gives the menus to the teams
Teacher: We are in café. Take the menu and complete the words in it. Then say what you would like to have for breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper.
6. Grammar Review.
MUCH/MANY
The pupils sort the products into two piles. Team 1 – countables (many). Team 2 – uncountables (much). The pupils say: many sweets/much tea, etc.

7. Memory Game.
The teacher shows the products and then hides them under the table.
The pupils should recall what was on the table. (e.g. Bread was on the table. Bananas were on the table.)
8. Past Forms of Irregular Verbs.
Attention Game
The teacher gives the pupils cards with the past forms of irregular verbs. Then the teacher shows the cards and says the present forms of the verbs.
The pupils show the correct cards and repeat them out.
