1.Warm up (W, P)

Teacher asks Ss questions:

Card 2. Discuss with your partner the topic ‘Our class’. The following questions will help you to organize your talk:

1) What do you like about your classroom?

2) What colour of classroom walls is the best for you?

3) Can you describe your classroom in five words? What are they?

4) What are five things you don’t like about your classroom?

5) What are five things you would like to change in your classroom?

Ss are given cards with questions to work in pairs to ask and answer questions.

Teacher revises quickly Comparative forms of adverbs.

2. Activity 2 (W, I, f, T-Ss, Ss-T) – ex 1 p 10

Teacher asks Ss to look at the pictures. T reads the words, students listen and repeat. Then T elicits the L1 equivalent for each word and then asks various Ss to say which of them are in their classroom.


3.Activity 3 (W, I, f) Reading for gist – ex 2 p 10


Teacher asks Ss to look at the pictures and gives them time to read through the texts. T elicits Ss’ answers to the question: Look at the pictures and titles. What is special about these schools?


Answer key:

The Boat school is special because it’s on a boat. The Vitta Telefonplan School is special because it is a school without classrooms.


4.Activity 3 (W, I, f) Reading for detail ex 3 p 11 SB

Teacher asks Ss to read statements (1-5). T gives Ss time to read the texts and complete the task. T checks Ss’ answers around the class.

T refers Ss to the Word List to look up the words in the Check the words box.


5.Activity 3 (W, I, f) Personalization and consolidation of the topic. p 11 SB

T reads through the rubric with Ss and gives them some time to think about how their school compares to the schools in the texts.

T asks Ss to get into pairs.

Ss make comparisons between their school and the school in the texts.

T monitors the activity.

T elicits comparisons from the Ss.

Suggested answer key:

A: In the Boat school classroom, there are desks and chairs for 30 students. In my class, there are desks and chairs for 20 students.

B: The boat school classroom has a blackboard. My classroom has a blackboard too.

A: The Vittra Telefonplan School hasn’t got classrooms.

B: Our school is on a quiet street. The boat school is on water. Etc


Home task: Ex 2 and 3 p 8 WB (with keys) to revise classroom objects
