Teacher: Dear friends! We’ve come here to speak on the topic “Health”. Too much is being said on the subject. And our scientists and psychologists and teachers are thinking over health-protecting technologies of studying. And everyone knows that “good health is above wealth”.
But strange as it is, we begin paying attention to our health when there is something wrong with our body, head, arms, legs, our constitution in general, when we simply fall ill.
The thing is, we must take care of our health to keep physically fit, to remain active and live a long life.
Now we’ve got to have a kind of instructive competition on our topic and our dear experts will help us.
First Expert: Hello, dear friends! We are really glad to see you here at our competition. The topic we have chosen is very actual and it has always been. “Health is really above wealth, ” the ancient said.
Second Expert: And it is really true that there is “a sound mind in a sound body”. We must be careful not to fall ill. Everyone knows that “sickness comes on horseback but goes away on foot. ”
First Expert: I’m sure that humour has always been a very good remedy against different diseases. People often have fun while telling different funny stories about sick persons, doctors and treatment.
I’d like to tell you one of such stories. A Frenchman not being accustomed to the English climate had caught a severe a cold and was coughing day and night. He decided to get a remedy for his cough, but as he didn’t remember the English word, he looked it up in his French-English dictionary.
There he found that the English for “la toux” was “cough”. He couldn’t find anywhere how ti pronounce the word. But he remembered the pronunciation of the English word “plough”. So he thought that the c-o-u-g-h must be pronounced as “cow”. He entered a chemist’s shop and said, “Will you, please, give me something for a cow?”
- I beg your pardon, sir? – asked the chemist politely.
The Frenchman repeated his request for some remedy for his “cow”.
- For your cow? – repeated his request. Are you a farmer?
- A farmer?- said the traveler. – No, I have come from Paris.
The chemist thought he was dealing with a mad man.
- Where is your cow? – asked he again.
- Here, - cried the Frenchman, coughing loudly, pointing to his chest. – Here it is! I have got a very big cow in my chest!
God knows, how the chemist understood him and gave him the remedy.
Second Expert: Oh, medicine is always a popular theme for jokes.
One of the funniest things is the connection of it with the new Russians. Just look here!
A new Russian comes to a dentist.
The dentist says to him, “You’ll have to have your tooth pulled out with local anaesthesia. ” “Never mind, doc, I’m sure to pay for the import one. ”
First Expert: Oh! We have talked nineteen to dozen. It’s time for our students to work.
Second Expert: Good luck! We’ll see who is the smartest, the quickest, whose team will become a winner. Onward to victory!
