The legend of St. Valentine.

There are many interesting legends of St Valentine's Day.

One legend says that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome.

When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those married, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret.

When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius put him into prison. While in prison, Valentine fell in love with a young girl, his jailor’s daughter. Before his death, he wrote her a letter, which he signed ‘From your Valentine’ . It was on the 14 th of February.

Saint Valentine's day is celebrated on the 14 th of February.

It is celebrated in many countries around the world but it remains a working day in most of them.

St. Valentine’s Day is 14 February.

This festival of love is celebrated by a lot of people. Now, St. Valentine's Day is the day of all sweethearts. On this day, people send presents or flowers to those whom they love. Most people send «valentines», greeting cards, named after St. Valentine's letters written in the jail.
