Our amazing animals!

The aim

  • development of communicative competence, through the introduction of new teaching techniques

The tasks

  • develop speaking skills, critical thinking;
  • repeat lexical and grammatical material based learning techniques "Fishbone", "Cinquain";
  • raise interest and respect to the subject matter, the responsibility when working in groups.

Expected results

Level A – the student proves his possibility or impossibility to do some exercises. He knows well grammar and lexical material of English can practice and make the examples without mistakes.

Level В – the student is including in a process of doing exercises readily. He can do some mistakes in writing skill or grammar material of his examples. He will not be a leader in his group but he will take part in a work actively.

Level С – the student will master grammar and lexical material at the level of memorizing. He will not be a leader in his group and also will be passive in implementation of joint tasks.

The key ideas of the program

The use of informatively-communicative technologies is in teaching and educating; organization group work (new approaches are in teaching and educating) ; analysis of the done work through the critical thinking.

Warm up!


1. A teacher’s greeting her class. She asks the students a duty report. Let’s play the game using the ball. Translate the animals into English.

1. Students form a circle round a teacher and pass a ball on a circle and call the animals.

Verbal evaluation of students: Well done, my dear! Very well! Great! Good! Excellent! Perfectly! Splendid!

2. Raising of problem and forming of aims of lesson. Make up the words working with the cards.
ANIMAL S - this word is a theme of our lesson.

3. Well done students! Let’s sing the song now: “Let’s go to the Zoo!”

2. The students do the exercise and explain their answers, for example:

The students guess and write down the got words in the cards. The students sing the song.

4. Make a cluster using a method of “fish bone”. Then interchange the clusters and estimate work of every group. Explain the results.
