scientists who teach how to help Mother-nature

and take care of it .You’ll learn why climate has

changed and any other interesting things.

All the things around us are parts of our environment. Some of these things are shown below:

Circle anything that is made by people that may change our environment in a harmful way.

Every year there are more and more people, throwing away more and more things.

Let’s think. We usually throw away: paper, milk cartoon, sweet and gum wrapper, bottle, broken toys, plastic bags, newspapers, cans, sock with a hole on it.

Does your family throw away a lot of trash each day?

Let’s think of problem. There are about 5 mln people living in our city. If each person throws away 1 kg of trash, how much trash is thrown each day in our city?

There are 365 days a year. How many kilograms of trash are thrown away each year in our city?

And this kind of trash doesn’t include stoves, furniture, cars or other big things.

But some trash stays around for a long time

Try to guess how long it might take for one plastic bottle to fall apart.

Which things stay on the ground longer, if it is not picked up.

Some trash becomes litter. I don’t want to see ugly litter on the land or in the water.

When trash is dumped, it can smell.

Some trash gets burned. When plastics and some other man-made things are burned, gases are given off.

Too much gases can make people and animals sick.

Stop litter. Don’t throw anything out of windows of our car or home. Put a special litter bag where it’s necessary.

Pick up litter around your school and home.

When you come back from a walk in the forest carry your trash with you.

Some countries have a lot of land, some little. More and more people want to build homes. We must use the land carefully. And how?

Some land is good for homes. Other kinds of land are good for parks, birds, animals, farms.

Do you have a special place to play where there are many trees, birds and animals?

Oh, yes I do. But some places I liked have been hurt.

and what happened?

We had a nice park near our house, but people built some new houses and my favourite place disappeared.

What can we do to keep our favourite places beautiful?

We need laws to help clean up our land.

We also need to have people follow the laws that are already made.

I’m also worried about water pollution in our country

I love rains There are a lot of rains in our area.

Rain can also help plants to grow big and strong

But sometimes the rainwater is not as clean as it could be. Why?

Man-made chemicals get into the air, mixing with rainwater, making acid rains

And what about people, animals, birds?

Trash can get into drinking water. And too many chemicals and too much dirt in drinking water can make animals and people sick. Chemicals are put into pools.

Really?

Yes. And to keep water clean I recommend to put filters on the drain pipes.

What about using chemical cleaner?

If you want to keep water clean, you shouldn’t use it!

When there are too many harmful things in the air, it is polluted.

But people and animals need to take in clear air with a lot of oxygen in it.

Oxygen is added to the air by plants But some people pollute their own bodies by smoking.

Their smoking also pollutes the air outside of their bodies

People can get sick when there is too much smoke in the air.

A lot of plants, factories pollute air, dumping produced gases.

Yes. Air, water, land can also be polluted when oil and petrol are burned. Burning pieces of

harmful things go into the air.

They also fall on the land and water!

You can do many things to help stop the pollution

Have you any thoughts?

Yes. Let’s stop using sprays. There would be less pollution if people use bikes instead cars.

Oil is burned to make electricity. If you use less electricity, there will be less pollution in the air, water and on the land.

Talk how to clean up our earth

Our climate depends on all the things we were talking about.

Our climate has changed a lot. Scientists say that it’s because of greenhouse effect.

Sunlight gives heat. Some of heat warms the atmosphere and some goes back into space. Nowadays the air surrounding the earth has become much warmer, because the heat can’t go back into space.

That’s why temperatures in many places have become higher.

As we see the climate changes from year to year. These changes can be dangerous for our planet.
