Dividing into three groups: I want to divide you into 2 groups with the help of magic sticks. Students who has marked sticks will be the first group, named Kazakhstan’s holidays and the second group will be Britain’s holidays

Presentation: a) Pre-reading: Look at the blackboard. Here is the code. You must break the code. If you don’t break the code we can not begin our lesson. Remember the Alphabet each word is hidden under the number. I’ll give you 3 minutes. We will see which group is the fastest in breaking codes. It will be the word Celebrate.

Look at the pictures. What do you see? What about will be the texts? Do you know any Kazakh and British holidays? When and how did these holidays appeared? For ex. Independence day…

b) Read all the texts. Discuss in pairs then in groups. Write on the poster.

Practice:

  1. Fill the diagram. First group will write about first 5 holidays, and second group will write about last 5 holidays.




  1. Present your work.

  2. Game “merry-go-round”. The first group students sit on the chairs, and explain one of the holidays for 30 seconds. And students of the second group listen and write name of the holidays and student’ s name for evaluation. I’ll say stop, standing students change their places till the end. For ex: Easter In April or at the end of March English people celebrate Easter Day. On Easter Sunday children get chocolate eggs and rabbits.

Warm up: dance Kara Zhorga.

Production:

  1. Venn diagram. Choose one holiday from each country and compare them.

For ex: Christmas and Ayt or Naurys and New Year, Halloween and Ayt.

  1. Present your work.

Home work: Write an essay “My favourite holiday”.















1. Nauryz is one of the traditional holiday in Kazakhstan. We celebrate Nauryz on the 22nd of March. It means a new day, a new year. A lot of yurtas are erected everywhere. During Nauryz Meiramy Kazakhs wear fine, good clothes, clean houses, yards, streets, plant trees, invite each other to be respectable guest and congratulate each other.
The main traditional meal of the holiday is Nauryz Kozhe. It is made of 7 components: meat, water, salt, airan, wheat, rice, onion.

2. Halloween On the 31st of October there is Halloween. The symbol of this holiday is “Jack o’Lantern”. People make it from a pumpkin. Children like Halloween parties, they put on witch’s and ghost’s dresses. They go “trick or treat”.

3. Easter In April or at the end of March English people celebrate Easter Day. On Easter Sunday children get chocolate eggs and rabbits.

4. Mother’s day In March there is a holiday for English women – Mother’s Day. People in the family try to help her. On that day they visit their mothers and give them presents and “A Mother’s Day Card”

5. St. Valentine’s Day On the 14th of February there is St. Valentine’s Day. People send Valentine’s cards to someone they love. Usually they don’t sing them – you should guess who sent cards to you.

6. New Year New Year’s Eve all British celebrate on the 31st of December. Most people see with friends and relatives. At midnight they sings New Year songs and wishes a happy New Year.

7. Christmas On the 25th of December there is the greatest holiday of all in England – Christmas. People send X- mas cards to their friends and relatives. People buy a Christmas tree and decorate it with toys, coloured balls and lights. Children wake up early to find stockings full of small presents on their bed.

  1. Kurban ait is the main holiday for the Muslims of the world. Its date is ..On this day it would be good to get up early, put on your best dressand come to the festive Ait namaz.In accordance to Sharia, one person should sacrifice one sheep. People go to the guests. And all Muslims cook traditional food.

  1. Capital day is celebrated from 1998 6 May. Our President renamed Akmola to Astana. There are a lot of beautiful buildings. On 18 July 2008 the Kazakhstan Parliament passed the law project after which we began to celebrate new holiday “Capital city day – 6 July”

  1. Kazakhstan celebrates its Independence day on 16 December. Our President congratulates the people of Republic. Kazakhstanis enjoy the official holidays on 16-17 December. Many cities hold celebrations and concerts on the Independence day, finishing it with fireworks in the evening.
