Previous learning

This unit recycles and revisits a lot of vocabulary seen in previous units, e.g. words for colours and simple objects and animals. Learners further practice giving short answers in response to direct questions.

Warming up

  • Teacher revises the days of the week and asks learners “What day is it today? What day was yesterday? What day will be tomorrow?”

  • Teacher nominates learners to answer “How are you?” question. Each learner describes his/her mood saying “I am...”

Happy Birthday

  • Teacher shows the video and asks what holiday they have seen. Learners must answer that it is “birthday”.

  • Teacher says: “Today is Masha’s birthday. We all must congratulate her. By the way to Masha’s house you must buy birthday things. For example balloons, cake etc. Let’s go to the shop”

  • Teacher says: “This is our shop. For example, if you want to buy a cake. But you haven’t money. If you do tasks, shop assistant will give that thing which you want”

Learners will choose what to buy and do its task.

  • Teacher demonstrates flash cards with words on the topic “Birthday” and asks learners to repeat those words (revision)
