Aim: To develop speaking skills, to get some new information on the topic and carry out career motivation among the school-leavers

I.T.-School! Lessons, games, homework. A bell rings. You have lunch. A bell rings. You go home. But one day you will be at school for the last time. What will you do after that? This is what we are going to speak about at our lesson. You are school leavers and you have got a lot of dreams but this year your main dream is to make the right choice of your future profession. Look at the screen here is the rhyme about dreams. (Pupils read it)

Dreams (by Langston Hughes) Hold fast to dreams Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die For if dreams go Life is a broken –winged bird Life is a barren field That cannot fly Frozen with snow.

I hope you understand what the author wants to say. Without dreams you will be lost in this life. And one of the most important things for you is the profession you’ll love. II. Let’s remember some wise quotations which prove it.

1. Choose the job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life. 2. To be successful, the first thing to do is to fall in love with your work. 3. The worst days of those who enjoy what they do are better than the best days of those who don’t. 4. People forget how fast you did a job, they remember how well you did it.

III. Let’s listen to people talking about the jobs they used to have and the jobs they have at present (‘’Listening practice for school-leavers”, I. I. Panova, E.B. Karnevskaya, Part I, section, Activities 1,2 (Pupils listen to short stories and comment on them)
