Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls.
Today we`ll continue practicing our speech skills. It means to converse because it`s the main aim of our school programme: to learn to speak English. And we have got some more grammar to practice.
But before Let`s revise 4 types of questions you know. They are: general questions (yes/no questions), Alternative questions, Special questions (or WH questions) and Disjunctive (or Tag questions).
Let`s revise 4 types of questions you know. They are: general questions (yes/no questions), Alternative questions, Special questions (or WH questions) and Disjunctive (or Tag questions).
General questions are asked for the whole sentence and you answer yes or no. Общие вопросы задаются ко всему предложению и на них отвечают: да или нет. For example: Do you like London? – Yes, I do. Or – No, I don`t.
Alternative questions are questions about the choice. And you choose one of the variants to answer. Альтернативные вопросы – это вопросы о выборе. И вы выбираете один из пунктов выбора для ответа. For example: Do you like London or Paris more? – I like Paris more. Here only one answer is possible. Здесь возможен только один вариант ответа.
And you have to give definite information you were asked about. Специальные вопросы запрашивают определенную информацию с помощью вопросительного слова. И вы должны ответить именно о том, о чем вас спросили. For example: When are you going to go to London? – We are going to go to London next Monday. The word when asks for the time of the action. – Слово ‘когда’ запрашивает время действия.
And the last type of questions you know – Tag questions. They are used when you want to ask again something. And you answer Yes/No, as in General questions. И последний из типов вопросов – разделительный. Он используется, когда вы хотите переспросить что–либо. И отвечают на него да или нет, как и в общих вопросах.
For example: You are going to go to London, aren`t you? – Yes, we are. Or – No, we aren`t.
Now look at the questions.
· Do you like London?
· Do you like London or Paris more?
· When are you going to go to London?
· You are going to go to London, aren`t you?
A very important thing to remember is that we put an auxiliary verb (or modal verbs, or the verb to have and to be) before the subject. Посмотрите на вопросы. Важная вещь, которую вы должны помнить – это то, что мы выносим вспомогательный глагол (или модальные, или глагол to have или to be) перед подлежащим.Look: do before you, again do before you, are before you, and aren`t before you. Don`t forget about that.
Teacher: Now you work in pairs. I give each pair a situation for the dialogue and you build your own conversations.
