Конспект урока "The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse"

– Hello, boys and girls! My name is Bobby.

– And my name is Tobby. This is our friend Mobby.

– Welcome to our lesson.

– Today we have a guest.

– It’s Megan’s little brother.

– His name is Kenny.

– Hi, everyone!

– Hi, Kenny! We are happy to see you.

– I’m happy to see you too, boys!

– Kenny, what brought you here today?

– Guys, I’ve come to you, because I need your help!

– Oh, okay! And what kind of help do you need?

– Well… Two weeks ago our literature teacher told us to read a fairy tale. She also said that she would ask any of us to retell that fairy tale. Unfortunately, I fell ill after that lesson.

– Oh, that’s not good!

– Yeah! And as you can understand, I had no chance to read the fairy tale.

– Oh, of course, we understand that!

– Kenny, but when will you have your next literature lesson?

– Guys, the lesson will be today at 5 o’clock in the evening!

– Oh, really?

– Yes, it’s true! And it means that I have only one hour to read the fairy tale.

– But it’s impossible!

– Yes, I know that! That’s why I’ve come to you. Guys, do you know the short version of the fairy tale “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse”?

– Yes, of course!

– Oh, guys, that’s so wonderful! Could you tell me this story, please?

– Sure! No problem, Kenny!

So today in the lesson we will:

·      learn new words;

·      tell the story of the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse;

And

·      put the knowledge into practice.

– All right! Let’s start our lesson.

– Kenny, before we tell you the story of the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse, let’s learn new words.

– You’ll need them to understand the story.

– Oh, okay!

– Great! And the words are…

Country

It’s translated as “деревня, деревенский”.

Barley

Now listen to the story, please!

A Town Mouse and a Country Mouse were friends. One day the Country Mouse invited his friend from the town to visit him.

– Hello, Town Mouse!

– Hello, my friend!

– Welcome to my house!

– Thank you! Oh, your house is very small!

– Yes, it is, but it’s very nice and lovely. By the way, Town Mouse, are you hungry?

– Yes, I am.

– Great! In this case, let’s have dinner together.

– Oh, that would be wonderful!

When the Town Mouse sat down to dinner, he was surprised to find that the Country Mouse had nothing to eat except barley and grain.

– I’m sorry, Country Mouse, but I don’t want to eat that!

– Oh, okay. But why?

– My dear friend, in my town we have much better food than this! You must come and see where I live. I have all kinds of good things to eat every day.

– Well… That sounds interesting. I really want to see the place where you live!

– Great! In this case, let’s go!

The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse went to the town. When they came to a big house, they started talking.

– Look, Country Mouse! I live here!

– Oh, wow! Your house is so big!

– Yes, it is! Let’s come inside.

– Sure!

They went into a big room. There was a long table in it. On the table the Country Mouse saw lots of delicious food. He saw a large cake, two packets of biscuits, a jar of strawberry jam, a plate with delicious pancakes, two salads, a kilo of cheese and two cartons of milk.
You can eat anything you like, my dear friend!

– Oh, really?

– Yes, but we must eat quickly!

– Quickly?

– Yes, that’s right!

– But why do we have to eat quickly?

– Well… It’s because we have a cat here!

– A cat?

– Yes!

– But the cat can eat us!

– Oh, you shouldn’t worry about that. After we eat, we will run as fast as we can! And the cat won’t be able to catch us.

– No, thank you. I’m going home!

– But why are you leaving so soon, Country Mouse?

– My dear friend, this house is not for me. My house is small, and my food is not very good! But I’m happy in the field with all my family and no cat that can eat me.

After these words the Country Mouse left his friend’s house and returned to the country. He was so happy about that.
