– Well done, boys and girls!

– Now we will talk about families in the UK and Russia.

– And first, let’s answer the question…

What’s the difference between families in the UK and Russia?

Let’s start with families in the UK.

Families in the UK are usually small.

The typical family has a father, a mother and two children.

The other members of the family – grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins – keep in touch, but don’t see each other very often.

We should mention that the typical family in the UK has a car, a washing machine, a dish washer and a cat or a dog as well. And you also need to know that the British usually keep their dogs inside the house.

Now let’s talk about families in Russia.

Families in Russia are usually large.

The typical Russian family includes not only a father, a mother and children, but it also includes grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

We should mention that not every family in Russia has a car and a dish washer, but almost every family has a cat or a dog.

And you also need to know that the Russian people usually keep their dogs outside, especially if they have their own houses.

Now look!

This is Ivan. He lives in Russia.

And this is Christopher. He lives in the UK.

The boys want to tell you about their families.

Listen to their stories, please!

Hi, boys and girls! My name is Ivan, Vanya for short. I’m 12 years old. I live in Moscow. I’ve got a large family. My mum’s name is Anastasiya and my dad’s name is Vadim. I also have a sister and two brothers. We live with my grandad and granny. My mum has a sister. She is my aunt. Her name is Alina. Pavel is my uncle. He is my dad’s brother. I also have one cousin. His name is Nikita. We love to talk and spend time together! I also have a dog. Its name is Bim. It lives outside in the doghouse.

Boys and girls, you’ve just listened to Vanya’s story.

Now answer the questions!

1. How old is Vanya?

Let’s check.

2. How many sisters does he have?
