Task 4. Listening comprehension
The teacher says:
“As you know Shakespeare’s plays found their way into a lot of movies, books and music. In my opinion, one of the most exciting versions of Romeo and Juliet is a film by an Italian director, Franco Zeffirelli (1968). There is a wonderful love ballad “What Is A Youth”. Listen and fill in the missing words”

The students are given the task to put the events of “Romeo and Juliet” in the right order. (The teacher provides the students with shuffled strips of paper each containing one event from the play).
There is a lot of antagonism between the Montague and the Capulet living in Verona. Romeo and his friends get into the Capulets party without permission. Romeo sees Juliette and falls in love with her. After the party they decide to get married. Friar Laurence marries them. Romeo kills Tybald and has to leave Verona. Juliet is told by her family that she has to marry Paris. Juliette doesn’t want to marry Paris. Juliette is given a drink that can make her looking “dead”. Juliette drinks it and everybody thinks that she is dead. Romeo wasn’t warned about that. Romeo’s friend tells him that Juliette is dead. Romeo comes and sees “dead” Juliette and kills himself. Juliette sees dead Romeo and also kills herself. The Montague and the Capulet decide to make peace |

Task 6. Watching and expressing opinion.
The teacher asks the students if they know any of other art genres inspired by William Shakespeare’s works.
The teacher says: “ Do you know that a great Russian composer created his ballet “Romeo and Juliet” with Galina Ulanova in his mind. Even though she was near her retiring, she convinced everybody of teenage youthfulness. The famous British ballerina Margot Fonteyne said about Ulanova: “I cannot even begin to talk about Ulanova’s dancing, it is so marvelous, I am left speechless…”
Let’s watch the episode and enjoy a divine ballet .
