Having some form of voluntary work on your CV can often improve your chances of getting a job. Some young people in the UK who take a ‘gap year’ before starting University use part of their time to do some voluntary work, whether in the UK or abroad. They say that volunteering brings fun and variety in their life. There is a week dedicated to all volunteers in the UK every year.
Voluntary work is popular in Russian, too. The popularity is growing up: the number of volunteers in Russia in 2022 was almost 4 million people - 4,3% more than the previous year. Some universities or other educational establishments give additional points to those who were involved in volunteering activities. Students can gain up to 10 points to their National Examination results. Sometimes even 1 point can matter. As a rule, they count the points which were gained during the last 4 years .
