Narrator: The smooth surface of sea is blue
And the sky is reflected there too.
Its stars are crying … Look at them!
They’ll tell you one sad fairy –tale…
1 Star: Every night we see an old man, He has no legs but long fish tail.
His arms are strong, his head is grey… And even we can heard him prey. 2 Star: His daughter, mermaid, lived with him,
She had green eyes and she was slim,
Her curly hair was long bright And shone in Moon or in day light.
3 Star: But now she’s dead. His heart is broken,
His pure soul was cruelly stolen.
His sad song sounds deep in my mind…
So, once upon a time …
Sea King: My daughters, please, don’t play and yell,
I’m the king and I must tell you
Such kind of things is not very good,
You can read it in my Rules Book:
“Don’t play and jump, don’t laugh and sing,
If you are children of Sea King.”
Tina: We know this, father, and we are sorry,
MERMAID
We’ll go to whales, they’ll tell us a story…
Sea King: What story?
Ariel: Human…
Tina and Lina: Ariel…
Sea King: A human one…
My dear daughters… of course they’ve gone!
Lina: You must be silent, Ariel,
About the human… and the whale.
Tina: He doesn’t like them…
Ariel: But I do,
And I so hope to see them soon.
One dolphin said three miles away
The ship is sailing to our bay.
Tina: We didn’t know about that.
Lina: Swim to the palace and tell our dad!
Ariel: It is not fair .He’ll give an order
For all to stay under the water.
I want to see these funny creatures,
And these are my deepest wishes.
Tina: you can’t do that because today
We’ll… show a play.
Lina: And mermaids’ lives are all in danger,
For us they always were the strangers.
Ariel: They can say everything they want,
But I can make this trip alone.
II ACT
Narrator: It was the middle of the night,
The sea was dark, the waves were high.
And cold wind blew over the sea…
There will be troubles, as you can see.
And when the play had reached the end,
The ship was crashed near the land.
And only one of the crew would live,
His life from mermaid he’d receive…
The first sun’s ray touches the land,
And now they both are on the sand…
Ariel: He has the head, the hands and neck,
I have them too, but not the legs.
But he and me, we look the same.
It is too hot like the heat of flame.
I’ve seen this face and lips, and eyes.
You are my prince from dreams of night.
(Sing a song from “Titanic”)
Oh no, he’s opening his eyes,
I must leave him. My love good bye!
Prince: My head is heavy. It’s hard to think,
I know I’ve lost an important thing.
I heard the girl’s voice near me
But where and how… Who can she be?
Chancellor: My prince! Thank you, my Lord!
I am the happiest in the world.
Take my hand and let’s go home.
Your father waits, he is alone.
The storm this night has greyed his hair,
His face is washed with bitter tears.
Prince: I think I heard his trembling voice,
When my big ship became a toy
In hands of waves, in hands of wind,
They shouted at me: “You’ll die! We’ll win!”
Chancellor: But now, my prince, all must be good,
And our king will change his mood.
Prince: I am alive, I must be happy,
But I’m not… I’ll find the lady,
Whose hands had saved me and whose voice I heard in spite of loud sea noise.
Chancellor: She must be beautiful, my prince! And could be queen of your province!
Prince: My dear queen, I’ll find you soon,
And you will sing under the moon.
Ariel: Oh, how I want to sing for you!
I need the legs… What should I do?
1 Shark: You’ll ask your dad, he has such
power…
2 Shark: Or swim with us to the old witch
tower…
Ariel: My father won’t accept my wish,
In rage he’ll turn me in a fish.
1 Shark: The witch was always on your side…
2 Shark: It’s up to you , you must decide.
Ariel: I do agree!
Sharks: So let it be!
III ACT
Narrator: King's daughters met a new bright day,
They didn't know of sister's way.
They didn't see the rock with hole,
And evil witch with big black mole.
Her secret place was wide and dark
And no one knows it, except of sharks.
She had the slaves — the mermaids' souls.
They helped her, they were all her dolls.
She's telling spells, her face is mad, .
And visitors had reached her flat.
Оld Witch: I knew you'd come to me, my sweet,
When the sun's candles are all lit.
Ariel: I fell in love....
Old Witch: My poor girl...
Ariel: But he loves me. It's true, I know.
Old Witch: So what do you want from me, my dear?
And please, don't show your tears just here.
I can fulfil your heart's deep wish,
But as you know I'm an evil witch.
Ariel: I want to see him every day
And run with him, to be the same.
Old Witch: To run? For me it's an easy test.
Ariel: So please... It's my request:
Give me the legs and human soul.
You are too powerful, I know.
Old Witch: OK, but on condition that
He must kiss you till this sunset.
If he doesn't, you'll disappear.
The love will kill you with its spear.
Your body then becomes the foam.
And will be lost in strong night storm.
It's the price of love, as you can see,
And now let's talk about me.
The love demands your life, in turn
I'll take your voice for my quiet home.
Ariel: My faith in love is strong enough,
So take my voice and take my laugh.
Prince: My father's chattering like a swallow
I don't want him to see my sorrow.
This is the place I had been found,
But she's not here! Her song still sounds.
And who is there? It is a girl.
Wake up, oh please, wake up. Geyom!
Chancellor: Yes, Your Highness!
Prince: Please, help me!
I want to know ...
Chancellor: You think it's she?
Prince: My heart is beating fast and fast,
I hope I've found her at last.
Chancellor: Don't worry, 'cause we won't hurt you.
I am unwanted. So, Adiu!
Prince: Have you seen the storm this night?
And were you here in the daylight?
My sadness, bye! My pain, so long!
I knew it couldn't last for long!
Give me your hand. Can you walk?
Tell me something. Can you talk?
What's your name?
Alone again. A-r-i-e-1.
Oh no, my father and his dancers.
Look at Geyom! My poor chancellor!
I want to hide...
The King: My boy!
Prince: It is too late!
The King: My child, I've heard you have a date?
Is this the girl you have been looking for?
I've never seen such a beauty before.
So let the dance make this job for you...
My dear lady, may I dance with you?
I don't know what my son will decide,
But I will hope to see you as his bride.
Prince: I looked at you. In dance you were so bright,
And I could hear your voice at night,
But what is it? I see the girl with a scarf.
I hear her voice, I hear her clear laugh.
My poor girl, I'm sorry, I was wrong,
But you are young and you are strong.
What happened there? I think I must be glad
I found you, but feel myself so bad….
Oh, please, I need to know the truth...
Young Witch: Ok. I'll tell it just for you!
Your love was a mute girl, but now she's dead.
Her face and body are the sea white foam,
And you will always be since then alone.
In love don't make your head your master,
It always brings you to a great disaster.
Prince: Oh, destiny, how could you be so cruel.
She died because she didn't know your rules
How could I lose my heart's desires?
Forgive me, Ariel! The Sun, burn the sea in fire!
Young Witch: It is too late to call .the lifeless love,
It flew away, like wild sea-gulls.
Narrator: The foam surface of sea is white and blue
And the sky's reflected there too.
Its stars are crying. Look at them!
They've told you one sad fairy-tale. .
Just close your eyes and you can hear
The song of mermaid in the air.
It draws the prince from fairy-tale,
Look at his face! It is so pale.
Dry lips are whispering her name: .
"Come back, come back, my, Ariel!"
(Children sing a song “My Bonnie” )
My Bonnie
My bonnie is over the ocean
My bonnie is over the sea
My bonnie is over the ocean
Oh, bring back my bonnie to me.
Chorus:
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my bonnie to me,
to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh, bring back my bonnie to me
Oh, blow ye winds over the ocean
Oh, blow ye winds over the sea
Oh, blow ye winds over the ocean
And bring back my bonnie to me
Chorus:
Last night as I lay on my pillow,
Last night as I lay in my bed,
Last night as I lay on my pillow
I dreamed that my bonnie was dead.
Chorus:
The winds have blown over the ocean
The winds have blown over the sea
The winds have blown over the ocean
And brought back my bonnie to me
Chorus:
Brought back, brought back
Oh, brought back my bonnie to me, to me
Brought back, brought back
Oh, brought back my bonnie to me
