Цель урока: расширение знаний учащихся по теме «Загрязнение земли»
Задачи урока:
Образовательные:
- ввести новые, активизировать уже известные, тренировать и закреплять в речи учащихся лексические единицы по теме;
Развивающие:
- продолжить развитие у учащихся навыков чтения, аудирования, говорения;
- продолжить развитие мышления, внимания, памяти, языковой догадки;
- продолжить развитие способностей к сравнению фактов, формулированию выводов из услышанного,
- продолжить развитие личностной активности учащихся.
Воспитательные:
- способствовать воспитанию у учащихся активной жизненной позиции гражданина и патриота;
- воспитывать чувство бережного отношения к окружающей среде.

I. Организационный момент. Приветствие. 2 мин
- Good morning, dear students! I’m glad to see you. Let’s start the lesson. Today we are going to have a very interesting lesson. First, think and answer: What is the theme of the lesson? What are we going to talk about? (Students’ answers)
- You are right. Today our theme is «Land pollution». We’ll study some new words; speak about the problem of environmental protection. The problem of our lesson is the global situation in ecology and what can we do with it.

Land pollution
Land pollution is basically about the contamination of the land surface and soil of the Earth.
It includes litter and waste along with the soil. The soil gets polluted by the chemicals in pesticides.
Most of the solid wastes are: paper, plastic containers, bottles, cans, used cars and electronic goods. They accumulate and pose a health threat to people.
Britain is protecting the environment on land in many ways for example by encouraging wildlife conservation and good forestry. It supports international agreements to protect wildlife and their habitats.
There is concern about the export of some hazardous chemicals, including pesticides, to developing countries which may not have the necessary expertise to use them safely.
Hazardous wastes can also pose major environment problems, since many developing countries do not have the technical capabilities to cope properly with these wastes.

- One of the most important point of land pollution is its effects. We have some students who prepared a presentation on this topic. Let’s listen to them.

Effects of land pollution.
There can be catastrophic consequences of land pollution in relation to humans, animals, water and soils. The effects are even worse if the garbage is not separated into organic, re-usable and recyclable waste.
Contaminated lands and environments can:
Cause problems in the human respiratory system.
Cause problems on the skin.
Cause various kinds of cancers.
The toxic materials that pollute the soil can get into the human body directly by:
Coming into contact with the skin.
Being washed into water sources like reservoirs and rivers.
Eating fruits and vegetables that have been grown in polluted soil.
Breathing in polluted dust.
Dump sites and landfills also come with serious problems like
Very bad smell in the town.
Landfills breed rodents like rats, mice and insects, who in-turn transmit diseases.
Landfills in towns do not attract tourists to the town. The town will lose revenue.
Many landfills are always burning and they cause further air pollution.

Effects of deforestation
Deforestation is when humans remove or clear large areas of forest lands and related ecosystems for non-forest use. These include clearing for farming purposes, ranching and urban use. In these cases, trees are never re-planted.
Looking at the importance of forests and trees in the previous pages, you can deduce the massive effects of deforestation and tree-cutting activities. Let us see a few below:
