| Warm up Do you love your family? Do you have a best friend? What is money? What is health? What is happiness? How often do you help your mother? 2. Activity 1 1. Begin the class by stating: "There are some things in life that are very important. I believe that health is very important. What are some things that you believe are very important?" They may suggest such things as "having a nice house" to "owning a new car." Divide the class into groups, give students petals of a flower with different words (values), and ask each student choose one and stick it to the flower on the blackboard. The number of groups equal the number of flowers on the board. (Here teacher can consolidate flowers and trees parts) 2. After students have stuck their "important things" teacher explains that many of these "things" can be called "values" and stich the middle part of the flower with word “values”. Give students a list of values and ask them to choose three most important values. According to the written prompts, tell their partners why they had chosen this or that value. (More able student should be encouraged not to use written prompts.) 4.Activity Summarize with students their values and lead to the family value. Ask students if they remember names of family members. Less able students get the crossword with family members to complete. The activity is done in groups. More able students complete sentences with the members of The Simpson’s family tree. Peer check. More able students check less able students’ works. Less able students check more able students with the help of keys (if necessary)
