Spotlight 5 Module 9c “A film review”

Today we are going to write not just a letter, but a letter with a film review and recommendation in it!

Before you start writing, you need to decide WHAT you are going to write about and HOW you are going to do it.

Your task is to write an e-mail to a friend about the film you saw.

Твое задание – написать электронное письмо другу и рассказать о фильме, который ты посмотрел(а).

First, choose a film. Second, make notes under the headings:

Во-первых, выбери фильм. Во-вторых, сделай заметки по следующим пунктам:

Type . What type of film is it? Is it a comedy or a romance? Is it an animated film or a fantasy film?

Жанр. Какой жанр у этого фильма? Это комедия или романтический фильм? Анимационный или фантастический?

Plot . What is this film about? What happens in it in short?

Сюжет. О чем фильм? Коротко опиши, что в нем происходит.

Main characters . What are their names? Who stars in the film?

Главные персонажи. Как их зовут? Кто исполняет главные роли?

Recommendation . What did you feel? What do you think about the film? You can also use phrases from ex. 3 p. 110

Рекомендации. Что ты почувствовал(а) после просмотра? Что ты думаешь об этом фильме? Можно использовать фразы из упр. 3

What notes can Samantha make under the headings?

Film . Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Type . A fantasy film.

Plot . It is the 6 th film of the Harry Potter series. It’s about Harry Potter getting ready to face Voldemort. Dumbledore takes Harry with him on a secret journey in which Harry is a witness to the battle between good and evil.

Main characters . Harry Potter and Professor Dumbledore. Starring Danielle Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

Recommendation . I found the film exciting, and the acting was wonderful. I think it’s a must-see for everyone.

Now, what about your film?

You made the notes about your film. Now let’s discuss the rules of letter writing!

• Greeting.

You should start your letter with a greeting, for example “Hi Julia,” or “Dear Sam,” Note that you should write a comma after it!

2. Politeness.

Start you letter with a polite question, for example, “How are you?”

3. Tell your friend about the film. Use your notes.

4. Tell your friend how you felt and give a recommendation.

5. Don’t forget about politeness!

Ask your friend in turn about his or her weekend or favorite film.

6. Finish your letter with warm friendly words, for example “Love,” or “Hugs,” or “Kisses,” and don’t forget about a comma .

7. Finally, write your name. Don’t put any punctuation sign after it!

Письмо нужно начать с приветствия. Обрати внимание, что после него ставится запятая!

Вежливость. Начни письмо с вежливого вопроса.

Расскажи другу о фильме. Используй свои заметки.

Расскажи другу, что ты почувствовал(а) и дай рекомендацию.

Не забывай о вежливости. Спроси друга о его выходных или любимом фильме.

Закончи письмо теплыми, дружественными словами. Не забудь о запятой!

Наконец, напиши свое имя. После него никаких знаков препинания не нужно!
