Урок по английскому языку

Travel to New Zealand

Класс: 6-й.

Образовательная программа: Spotlight (английский язык).

Тип урока: комбинированный.

Форма урока: урок-путешествие.

Цель: познакомить учащихся с Новой Зеландией.

Задачи:

  • Образовательные:

  • повторить понятие «заимствованные слова»;

  • повторить знакомые слова по теме “Animals”;

  • расширить словарный запас по теме “Animals”;

  • повторить знакомые слова по теме “Activities”;

  • расширить словарный запас по теме “Activities

  • повторить конструкции “There is / There are”;

  • повторить модальный глагол “can” для обозначения возможности.

  • Воспитательные:



  • воспитывать интерес к изучению английского языка;

  • воспитывать интерес к получению новых знаний;

  • воспитывать дружелюбие, желание помочь команде.

1. Организационный этап.

Teacher: Hello everyone! How are you today! Sit down, please.

2. Этап актуализации знаний.

At this lesson we are going to travel. Tell me, please, what countries do you know? And what about countries where people speak English?

They are English speaking countries where English is an official language and where it is widely used.

Here on the screen you can see these countries. Which countries are highlighted? Yes, the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia. And what is this country?

3. Мотивационный этап.

This is so-called “The Land of the long white cloud” and we know it as New Zealand. I’ve been in New Zealand. I have visited this amazing country and today I wiil be your tour guide in our travel to New Zealand. Ready? Let’s go!

New Zealand is a really wonderful place to visit. Just enjoy the view. How beautiful! It’s typical New Zealand: sheeps, mountains, green grass and blue sky. Amazing!

4. Этап изучения нового материала.

Because of its beauty New Zealand became a place where many movies are making. And the most famous are “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”. Many tourists come to visit New Zealand because of this films (and me as well). Just to see with their own eyes all these places, including the Hobbiton. It’s a real place. No CGI ( computer-generated images, or special visual effects). It’s a village that was built specially for the movies. I strongly recommend you to visit this fantastic place.

But not only “LOTR”, there were also filmed “Chronicles of Narnia”, “Mission Impossible” and other movies.

Here you can see famous New Zealanders, people who were born in New Zealand.

Ernest Rutherford was a scientist. He lived in XIX century. He is “the father of nuclear physics”.

Edmund Hillary is a mountaineer. He was the first man who climbed on the top of Mount Everest – the highest mountain in the world. He reached its summit in 1953.

Peter Jackson filmed “LOTR”, “The Hobbit”, “King Kong” movies and others.

Taika Waititi is also a film director. He made, for example, “Thor. Ragnarok” movie.

Taika Waititi has Maori roots. Maori people are natives (indigenous people) of New Zealand, as aborigines in Australia. They have a tradition to greet each other in a special way. When they meet, they press their noses and foreheads together.

By the way, do you know who is it? Yes, it’s Moana, the character from the cartoon. Did you know, that she is a maori? Yes, she is!

And now I want you to know some more facts about New Zealand. Listen to the audio and complete the sentences with these words. Listen carefully.

Ok. Let’s listen one more time so you can take more information from the audio and check your answers.

Now let’s check the answers and read the sentences you’ve made.

Put “plus” near the sentences which are right. Write down, how many scores do you have. Perfect!

And now imagine. We are in New Zealand. What are we going to do there? What will we do, what will we see? Let’s watch the video and find out an information. After watching the video the 1st group will tell us what animals live in New Zealand. The 2nd group will tell us about the landforms of New Zealand (mountains, rivers etc.). The 3rd group will tell us about popular New Zealand activities (swimming, skiing etc.).

So, the 1st group, tell the class, what animals have you seen in this video? Thank you, and I see that you have a problem with names of some animals. Look at the screen. (Students read the words, look at the pictures and repeat the words after the teacher).

So, the 2nd group, tell the class, what landforms have you seen in this video? Thank you, and there were more. Look at the board. Here you see the pictures. Let us match the pictures to the words. (Students match the pictures to the words and repeat the words after the teacher).

And the 3rd group, tell us, what activities have you seen in this video? Thank you, and we have seen in the video many unusual, extreme and even scary kinds of activities. Let’s lern them! (Students match the pictures to the phrases and repeat the phrases after the teacher).

Now I want you to try being a tour guide. Who wants to be the first?

(A “tour guide” come to the board and answer the questions of students. All the students can use the prompts. There are 3 “tour guides” in total).

Thanks a lot for your information. You are already a professional tour guide! So you can travel.

6. Этап закрепления знаний.

On the screen you can see the cloud of words. Try to make some sentences using them. Excellent! And now I want you to make special books which you read when you need the information about the place. It is called “tour brochures”. So I give each group all the materials you need. You have 7 minutes to finish the task. You can use all the information about New Zealand that you know by now.
