Good morning, pupils. I’m glad to see you. Let’s start our lesson.
As you remember a lesson ago we started our work on the topic “There is no life without books”.
Today we will continue working with this topic. And the aim of our lesson is to develop speaking skills.
We have already worked out the general model of the topic.
Look at the screen and remember our model.
We have already talked a lot about the general aspects of reading and today we will talk about “types of books”. It’s the ray K3. It’s the plan of our today’s lesson. Look at it and say what exactly we will speak about.
And today we’ll turn this ray into a new model.

Look at the first ray in our model. This is the classification of books according to the genre. But of course you understand that such classification is not the only one. There can be a lot of them.

And now it’s just the time to pass on to the main part of our lesson.
Let’s work with the ray K2.
And the first genre we are to work with is poetry.
Poetry is a literature genre which assumes the art of writing poems.
There are different kinds of poetry. Can you name them?
Right you are!
And let’s try to systematize them according to the importance for you. Look at the screen and compare.
OK. And can you tell us something about different kinds of poetry? What do we mean when we speak for example about landscape (love, patriotic, philosophic) lyrics?
We’ve learnt some poems at our lessons. And can you give an example of any kinds of lyrics?

And now we will work with the next ray K3. We will speak about prose.
You know that prose is a literature genre which assumes using written language in its usual form, as opposed to poetry.
Prose can also be of different kinds. Let’s point them out.
Look at the screen and compare.
Let’s remember the most famous authors of this genre and some of their most significant works.
Look at the screen. You can see some books. I think you know all of them. Now I will give you some extracts from these books and your task is guess from what book it is.
Let’s start. Who wants to read the first extract?

"I had slept for many hours. When I awoke it was just daylight. I tried to get up from the ground, but I could not move! My arms and feet were held down to the ground with strings. I heard some noise around me, but I could see nothing. In a little time I felt something alive moving on my foot, then it came over my body and up to my face. "At seven o'clock on a hot evening in the Seeonee hills, Father Wolf woke up. There was a little animal at the mouth of the cave.' It was Tabaqui [tǽ'bǽki], the jackal. The wolves of India don't like Tabaqui. He makes trouble, Father Wolf could see from Tabaqui's eyes that he wanted to make trouble now. 'Shere Khan ['ζiə 'ka:n], the Big One, has changed his hunting grounds,' Tabaqui said."

I would like you to divide all folklore’s genres into 3 groups according to the size and make up a branchy ray. You can use the list of words.
And now tell us some words about the results of your work. How do you classify the kinds of folklore?
So, you know that proverbs are the kind of folklore. And now I would like you to read English proverbs and try to give their Russian equivalents.
