Урок 1
Тип уроку: засвоєння нових знань
Мета :
Навчальна: повторити та активізувати вживання вивчених лексичних одиниць; систематизувати знання і уміння учнів за темою “Healthy Eating”; ознайомити учнів з принципами здорового харчування; удосконалювати навички усного мовлення.
Розвивальна: розвивати навички монологічного та діалогічного мовлення; ерудицію учнів, здібності логічного мислення.
Виховна: вчити учнів бережно відноситись до свого здоров’я, правильно харчуватися, відмовитись від шкодливих звичок.
Обладнання: ноутбук, проектор, мультимедійна презентація «Healthy Eating», картки для самостійної роботи учнів (додатки 1,2,3)
Хід уроку
ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ
Greeting:
Good morning children! I’m very glad to see you. How are you getting on? Well
let’s start our lesson.
Aim:
Today we are going to speak about you eating habits. You’ll find out about food
groups, what do you get from meal and how you can plan healthy meal to avoid
illness. We are going to watch the presentation. At the end of the lesson you are able
to answer the question What food groups are important for our health?
Warm up:
Look at the pictures of vegetables, fruit and meal. Write the English name
after each picture (appendix 1)
Match the following verbs with their Ukrainian equivalent:
Bake a) рубить
Boil b) смажити
Peel c) різати скибками
Chop d) варити
Cut e) вичавлювати
Fry f) запікати
Grill g) очистити
Roast h) випікати
Slice i) різати
Squeeze j) запікати на грилі
Can you think of the food words that often go with words? (Sample: boiled potato, peel onions etc.)

Speaking:
Let’s speak about your eating habits. Answer the question:
Do yes/no exercise in your card 2. Answer the questions and count your “yes” answers. (appendix 2)
What are your results?
The more “yes” answers you have, the more you need to think about your attitudes about food and healthy eating. In order to be healthy you should eat more of certain products and less of others.
Presentation: what are the five basic types of food a person should eat?
Meat – helps you to have a strong and healthy body by providing protein.
Dairy – builds strong teeth and bones by providing calcium.
Fruit and vegetables – help you have healthy gums, good eyesight by providing vitamins.
Bread and cereal give us energy by providing protein, iron and several B vitamins.
Fats and sugar - fats sources of energy.
Writing:
You have watched the presentation and now do the work in your cards. Complete the table “Food groups”. Work in groups of three. You should write each of these foods into the according column. (appendix 3).
Speaking:
Answer the questions:
What do you usually eat for breakfast?
What do you usually have for dinner? What groups are the foods from?
What do people in our country usually eat for supper?
Do you take vitamins pills? What kind?
What snacks are healthy for your eat?
What is junk food? Give some examples.
Is it healthy to skip meals?
Why are fresh fruit and vegetables better for you than canned fruits and vegetables?
Look at the pictures and say which is better breakfast? Why is it better? (slide)

Read the text and do the post-reading tasks
Food Pyramid (appendix 4)
It’s important to eat well balanced meals.
Food Pyramid is a general guide of what to eat each day because people must eat a variety of foods to stay healthy.
The balanced and healthy Food Pyramid was reworked from basic food groups, consisting of meat, dairy products, grains, fruit and vegetables.
No one food group is more important than another, so a person needs them all for good health.
Grains: The foods in this group give your body energy.
Eat 3-6 ounces of whole grain bread, cereal, rice, crackers or pasta daily
Vegetables - You need 3-5 servings. Eat more dark green vegetables Eat more orange vegetables Eat more dry beans and peas
Fruit - You need 2-4 servings a day. Eat a variety of fruit Choose fresh, frozen, canned or dried fruit Go easy on fruit juices
Milk - You need 2-3 servings a day. Go low-fat or fat-free If you don’t or can’t consume milk, choose lactose-free products or other calcium sources
Meat and Beans - You need 2-3 servings a day. Choose low-fat or lean meats and poultry Bake it, broil it, or grill it Vary your choices--with more fish, beans, nuts and seeds.
Fat and sugar - You shouldn’t use “Others” too much. Your body only needs a small amount of fat. Sugary foods usually don’t have many vitamins and have too much fat and calories in them.
Post- reading activity:
Test yourself your task in the card and check up how many serving of these food groups you should eat.
Say if sentences are true or false.
Everybody must take multivitamins every day.
You can eat as many fruit and vegetables as you want
The Food Pyramid shows the balance diet
Coca-Cola is good for you
Healthy food includes fresh fruit and vegetables
People must eat a variety of foods to get all the nutrients they need. now
