Тема: “It’s time to think about your future career”
Цель урока:
развивать лексические навыки, навыки аудирования, говорения по теме «Планы на
будущее. Выбор профессии.»
Задачи:
учебные: активизация лексических единиц, умение обобщать полученные знания,
использовать их в новых ситуациях.
развивающие:
развитие понимания иноязычной речи на слух, развитие интеллектуальных способностей
учащихся, умение аргументировать точку зрения.
воспитательные:
воспитание ответственного отношения к выбору профессии, уважения к труду,
содействие профориентации обучающихся.
Ход урока
Oрганизационный момент
Good morning. Nice to see you. How are you? Let’s start our lesson.
Today we are going to talk about your future career, what you are going to do after the 9th
form, about different professions Russian and British teens choose.

Look at the screen and repeat the words.
Lawyer, barber (парикмахер), businessman, social worker, dentist, doctor, fireman, fisherman,
gardener, hairdresser, nurse, model, musician, policeman, receptionist, secretary, soldier,
teacher, telephone operator.

Have you made up your mind what would you like to do after school?
Are you going to stay here or go to some place to study?
Are you working harder on school subjects you will need in future?
Would you prefer to find a job and help your parents?
Do your parents like your choice and support you?
Угадай профессию человека/Guess the jobs
1) A person who helps people with the law or talk for them in court. (A lawyer)
2) A person who makes and sells medicine. (A chemist)
3) A person who does work to improve bad social conditions and help people in need. (A social
worker)
4) A person trained to look after sick animals. (A vet)
5) A person whose job is to stop a fire. (A fireman)
6) A person who makes a plan of a house you are going to build. (An architect)
7) A person who cuts, washes and styles people`s hair. (A hairdresser)
8) A person who works in a hospital and helps doctors. (A nurse)
9) A person who works at school and whose job is to teach children. (A teacher)
10) A person who helps the customers to find in the shop what they want. (A shop assistant)
Group work / Групповая работа It is interesting to listen to your opinion and find out what qualities and characteristics are
necessary for different jobs. Let`s do ex. 6 p. 155 in groups.
Professions can have pluses and minuses. Do ex. 7 p. 155. Use structures:
I would like to be a …… because…….
I wouldn’t mind being a ……. because……
There are different things to do after school. In a group, ask your classmates what they would
like to do in the future. Use word combinations in ex. 8, p. 156 and fill in the table...

Let’s listen to the dialogue between two British girls ex. 9 p. 156 and answer the question:
Do English students and students of our country have the same opportunities when they finish school?
The next task for you is reading the dialogue in your textbooks, ex. 10 p. 156 in roles.
Our lesson is over. Your homework is ex. 10, p. 156 in textbooks. (write down all the
opportunities that Sue advices to Carol. Consult the Linguistic and Cultural Guide on p. 198. Which of the opportunities are the most suitable for Russian students and which are not? Give your reasons.)
